Fifteen years experience as an executive, leader, analyst, architect, engineer, consultant and academic. With Keith Ahern, I co-founded Oomph, which became Australia’s leading mobile development company & created the worlds best tablet app platform. I have a broad skill set including proven leadership experience, product marketing, product management & pre-/post-sales technical support. I am able to move seamlessly up & down the stack from senior leadership, customers, to deep code; between multiple tools and technologies. I have significant experience in technology startups, having built & scaled Oomph to a product team of 15. More recently I have been heavily involved in growing & structuring an engineering organisation from around 10 to 30 in the space of 12 months. I am interested in ways to grow teams & technical leadership capability while continuing to deliver value & customer impact during high growth periods. I am experienced in a diverse range of technologies; proficient in Ruby, Scala, Objective-C, Java, JavaScript & Haskell. I have experience across native clients, front-end web development and large-scale backend systems, working on projects including security infrastructure, distributed "Big Data" systems, advanced web-based clients, GUIs and applied Semantic Web technologies. I have sat on two W3C working groups. I have been actively involved in open source for 16 years; founding four projects and was a developer on Scalaz, Functional Java, JRDF & Mulgara. I founded the Brisbane Functional Programming Group (BFPG), one of the largest functional groups in the world. I regularly speak at local user groups & have spoken at national and international conferences. My current interests are based in technical leadership, mobile, high performance & cloud computing, functional programming & agile techniques.Technical Coach @ From January 2015 to Present (1 year) Melbourne, AustraliaSVP of Polyglot Engineering @ From May 2014 to Present (1 year 8 months) PhD @ Griffith University From 1999 to 2001 BInfTech (Hons) @ Griffith University From 1998 to 1998 BInfTech @ Griffith University From 1996 to 1997 BSc @ Griffith University From 1994 to 1997 Tom Adams is skilled in: TDD, Agile Methodologies, Scrum, Android, iPhone, Cloud Computing, BDD, Mobile Devices, iPad, High Performance Computing, Functional Requirements, Tablets, Databases, Ruby, Ruby on Rails
