Appia is headquartered in Durham, NC and San Francisco, CA with global sales offices. From July 2015 to Present (6 months) Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina AreaSenior Manager, Marketing @ From March 2015 to July 2015 (5 months) Marketing Manager @ After a year on the marketing team I was promoted to lead the department and my role transitioned into a more strategic leadership position. As a member of the executive team, I took control of our marketing budget and ownership of our corporate marketing goals, reporting quarterly performance to our Board. My primary objectives were to drive inbound leads, support the sales team, implement a marketing automation system, raise brand awareness, and manage our tradeshow & events calendar. We were tremendously successful in 2014, reporting a 150% increase in web traffic, a 250% increase in social followers, and most importantly, an 80X increase in inbound leads compared to 2013. My major initiatives included a complete rebranding involving a new website, content, sales materials, etc., a significant push into digital advertising, and a more robust email marketing and social media strategy. Check out some of my work here: www.bioagilytix.com, www.virtualpodiums.com, and www.linkedin.com/company/bioagilytix. From March 2014 to March 2015 (1 year 1 month) Commercial Marketing Associate @ After my stint in business development, I transitioned into a Commercial Marketing role with BioAgilytix. In this position, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects including a website overhaul, sales collateral, advertising, social media, tradeshows & events, and email marketing. My efforts were focused on expanding our base of marketing materials, maximizing the value of our content by repurposing and deploying them through a large set of digital channels, and developing a drip campaign through email and social media to stay top-of-mind with our clients and prospects.
I led many of our projects from the ground stages, giving me great exposure into the operations and marketing of a fast-growing small company. My responsibilities included content development, graphic design, competitive analysis, CRM management, vendor selection & management, and strategy. My technical roles within the graphic design and copywriting process allowed me to develop proficiency with Adobe’s CS6 InDesign & Illustrator, and Microsoft’s 2010 & 2013 Office Suite. From January 2013 to February 2014 (1 year 2 months) Business Development Associate @ As my first full-time position after college, I joined the business development team of BioAgilytix Labs, a bioanalytical lab specializing in large-molecule bioanalysis, where my role largely involved B2B inside sales. This experience gave me significant experience as a prospector, lead generator, and CRM administrator, but more than anything, I came out with a deep understanding of our industry from daily direct sales. By innovating our prospecting and lead generation practices, I arranged more than 90 initial teleconferences with director+ large-pharma executives. From March 2012 to December 2012 (10 months) Digital Analytics Intern @ Following my graduation from Duke, I interned with the digital analytics group at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, a leading full-service integrated advertising & digital media agency. During my three month stint, I was tasked with communicating our client’s online marketing performance using Google Analytics and Adobe Omniture as well as ensuring data integrity by testing collection mechanics. I had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging from Jello’s “Jiggle It” mobile app, to the American Express Open Forum business blog. From October 2011 to December 2011 (3 months) Marketing Intern @ I solidified my interest in pursuing a marketing career after my experience working as a marketing intern for School House, a collegiate clothing manufacturer that emphasized ethical labor and quality. In this role I analyzed sales data to make future production decisions, developed marketing reports to measure ROI and cost effectiveness, and optimized our marketing research process to offer deeper understanding into our emerging markets. From September 2010 to December 2010 (4 months) Logistician @ The summer after my junior year at Duke, I served as a logistician for Samaritan’s Purse, a disaster relief organization and one of the largest NGO presences in Haiti. I traveled to Titanyen, Haiti a few months after a massive earthquake struck the capital city and surrounding area, causing catastrophic damage. I supported Samaritan Purse’s restorative efforts by serving as a fleet manager, and procurement agent. I managed a group of about 15 national drivers, and the allocation and maintenance of a fleet of more than 40 vehicles. My role supported all of our departments and required daily travel through Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area. From May 2010 to August 2010 (4 months) Assistant Manager @ I spent three months in Melbourne, Australia as part of an individual project funded by Duke Universities’ DukeEngage program the summer after my sophomore year. I went to support the efforts of the Lighthouse Foundation—a non-profit that provides long-term care and shelter to homeless youth in the Melbourne area. I went specifically to lay the groundwork for a mentoring program that now benefits more than 200 youth in the area. In addition to this primary goal, I developed a 14 page fitness program that was distributed to the youth and throughout the company; and I prepared for the opening of two new shelters that currently houses 12 homeless youth till they become self-sufficient. From June 2009 to August 2009 (3 months)
