I have experience of ETL development using native teradata scripting language, IBM Datastage v7.5X2, Informatica Powercenter 8.6 / 9.1 and SAS Data Integrator. I have also worked on SQL optimization, Informatica Powercenter sessions / workflows optimization, setting up teradata MDS, scheduling and monitoring ETL jobs using SLJM and optimization of Datastage jobs and sequences. Performed various tasks deirectly related to oracle to teradata migration projects. I have been working closely with business users and stake-holders for making plans and roadmaps to build a system that would effectively increase the profitability of the business utilizing the underlying data efficiently. Apart from DWH development, i have been developing Teradata EMEA GCC Pakistan's Progress Reporting, Business Processes and Employee portals. All three of them were web-based asp.net applications. From August 2007 to March 2013 (5 years 8 months) Configuration Management Architect @ I was responsible for defining and writing code for automated process for build creation and deployment of code between environments. The process was implemented across all projects in the BIX program. Informatica workflows and DDL for Teradata database were maintained and deployed using shell scripts which required minimum user input. From December 2012 to February 2013 (3 months) Stockholm, SwedenInformatica Specialist / ETL Architect @ I worked on Axfood EDW project in the capacity of an Informatica Specialist / technical lead. Responsibility was to manage and ensure timely delivery and to resolve technical issues with the client for all four streams on the project (Reporting, ETL, testing and configuration management). Also part of responsibility was to develop and maintain code for Informatica Data Transformation jobs that convert complex XMLs into simple ones and then parse them to load data in Teradata staging tables. Developing complex reusable components (SQL and Informatica) and migration from old system / data generation from SL for outbound feeds was also my responsibility. In the last three months I worked as a configuration and release manager and was responsible for productionizing the solution. From March 2012 to November 2012 (9 months) Stockholm, SwedenInformatica Specialist @ I was assigned on the project as an Informatica Specialist. My responsibility was to optimize sessions and server configuration of informatica 8.6.1 at the client side. Proposals were made for changes in the already developed mappings and sessions by simplifying implementation procedures which resulted in running of the workflows with better performance. Optimization of custom transformation, mapplets and Informatica UDFs was also done by me on the assignment. I was also responsible for developing a strategy for development of initial load processes which would load data for the past two years using minimum time and resources. From November 2011 to March 2012 (5 months) Moscow, Russian FederationTest Analyst @ I worked as a test analyst on Telefonica UK project. My responsibilities included testing of ETL processes using HP’s Quick Test Pro. Bug tracking using HP’s Quality Center was also part of my responsibility. Major work included the preparation of test cases in QTP and mapping them with the business requirements of a specific work stream. Integration of these test cases with the test plan in Quality Center was also part of the job. From July 2011 to November 2011 (5 months) United KingdomInformatica Consultant @ I was involved in the effort estimation activity for DnB NORs implementation of teradata using Informatica Power Center. My responsibilities included the categorization of existing Power Center mappings according to their complexity and to provide viable estimates for their implementation on the Teradata warehouse. Suggesstions for redesigning of some mappings to utilize the PDO function of Informatica Power Center were also part of my responsibilities which resulted in notable execution time differences From June 2011 to June 2011 (1 month) NorwaySQL Specialist @ I was part of a team where a PoC was conducted for Volvo Trucks Sweden EDW project. Oracle SQL / PL/SQL was translated into Teradata SQL along with database structures and views / macros. The procedures were then optimized to perform at their best to reduce the business delivery time. From May 2011 to May 2011 (1 month) SwedenStream Lead @ I started working on Sunrise AG’s EDW implementation project as an ETL/Informatica developer. Development of mappings, sessions and workflows were part of my responsibilities on the project. Unit testing of the data and the mappings/sessions/workflows was also part of my role. Informatica Powercenter 8.6 was being used on the project as the ETL tool with full PDO. Handling of exceptions in the source data was also being done on the project and was part of the responsibility of the developer. I was also involved in the analysis and testing of the SMX for ambiguities and performance optimization of SQL and workflow execution. I was then moved to the position of leading two streams on the project from ETL development side. Responsibilities included extraction and documentation of requirements of multiple interfaces, source code/system analysis, SMX development, conversion of current cursor based processing to set based, development and unit testing of informatica mappings, sessions and workflows, releasing of packages to UAT and production and delivery of knowledge transfer sessions. Also included in my responsibilities was to handle and resolve any issues arising in UAT using Mercury Quality Center. From August 2009 to April 2011 (1 year 9 months) SwitzerlandData Integration Specialist @ I was assigned on the STC’s EDW implementation project as an ETL / Datastage developer. All the transformations were being done through the Teradata BTEQ scripts and C programs, development of which is also part of my responsibilities. Datastage was being used as a wrapper for job controlling, scheduling and monitoring. Part of responsibilities include to write the C program for CDR transformations and generating a load ready file as an output to the C program. Generation of metadata from the logs of Teradata Fastload, muliload, fastexport and BTEQs are also being generated by another C program being maintained by me. Other small utilities to optimize the ETL execution were written in Java, also being maintained by me. I was also responsible for setting up and configuring Teradata Metadata Services (MDS) for the project. I was also assisting NCR Middle East team in completing the System Integration Testing and to move the project in production. My responsibilities included handling of any bugs/issues raised in the SIT phase and document / assist the STC’s operational team to prepare the environment for the newly developed project. I was also responsible for developing strategies to move the project in to production From February 2009 to August 2009 (7 months) Saudi ArabiaData Integration Developer @ I was responsible for data integration process development for data from five source systems. Data loading scripts were scheduled and run through SLJM on the UNIX platform. Verification and unit testing of the data load was also part of responsibility. From June 2008 to August 2008 (3 months) PakistanETL Developer @ I was involved in the EDW development of Zain Telecom KSA. Responsibilities included writing Teradata fastload scripts, running them through UNIX SLJM and designing the test plan for DW development From March 2008 to May 2008 (3 months) Saudi ArabiaWebmaster and .Net Developer @ Redesigned and maintained the official website of Bahria University Islamabad Campus. Development for online students and guests registration for convocation 2008 was also part of responsibility. The website itself was a complete web-application developed in ASP.net 2.0 From January 2007 to March 2008 (1 year 3 months) .Net Developer @ Developed a complete online centralized help desk system for Siemens Pakistan Engg. Pvt. Ltd. The help desk system was to be used by all employees to submit incidents to the CIO (Corporate Information Office) department. The assignment of the incident to a service desk engineer was an automatic and transparent process. Reports were created for analysis and performance improvements for the CIO department. User roles, escalation of incidents, feedback after the incident was closed and categorization of incidents are some of the many features that were implemented in the system. All the phases of SDLC from requirement gathering to testing and deploying were done by a team of three including myself, whereas the development phase was completed entirely by me. The system was developed on the .net 1.1 framework as a web application, and is currently running in Siemens offices all over Pakistan.
