Specialties: Fibre Channel, SAN, Storage Virtualization, FC-Redirect, SanTap, FCoE, SCSI, Data Center Technologies, Distributed Systems
Software Engineer @ From October 2010 to Present (5 years 1 month) Senior Software Engineer @ Cloud Storage Infrastructure
Currently working as an Architect in a Cloud Storage infrastructure project.
Architect and Lead developer of FC-Redirect
Architected & Developed FC-Redirect. Fibre Channel Redirect is a critical distributed infrastructure service in NXOS that allows transparent insertion/removal of one or more Storage Services in cascade into a SAN without traffic disruption between a Host & Storage without the host or storage knowledge. This allows the customer to deploy storage services on demand without of the hassle of re-wiring and configuring the fabric.
This product received the Cisco Data Center Business Unit Outstanding Technical Achievement Award in Aug-2007
Participated in the design of all FC-Redirect based applications like SME (Storage Media Encryption), IOA (IO Acceleration Services), DMM (Data Migration Manager) to optimize their design in FC-Redirect environments
Currently, leading the team to support and optimize FC-Redirect for FCoE environments.
Architect of SANTAP - A remote replication infrastructure
Santap, a remote replication infrastructure is the biggest revenue generating storage virtualization product from Cisco with more than 500 customers. From November 2005 to October 2010 (5 years) Software Engineer @ Developer of IP Network Technologies
As a developer in Pagent Group (Test technologies Department - The charter of the department is to develop testing tools and advanced testing Methodologies that are used to test Cisco products), carried out different roles as a Developer, Release Master and coordinating the regression/testing process for the group.
Designed, developed and supported a wide range of router-based network testing tools that run on Cisco IOS including Traffic generators, Packet sniffers, QOS testing tools, IOA-based packet Scripting Engines, protocol emulators etc.
Managed our devtest team in Taiwan and India. This included mentoring and training the team on our tools and testing processes, coordinate their activities to make sure that each of our releases gets properly tested.
Worked on a wide range of Cisco routers including 7500, 7200, 3700 and 2600 series and IOU.
Worked with the QA in various business units in Cisco and helped them develop test plans by effectively using our testing tools.
Volunteered to be the Release Master - including Managing releases, branch maintenance, working with Cisco Release operations, streamlined the Pagent release process
X-BU Development Efforts
Led X-BU development Team in partnership with MWGBU to develop new features for WAPSE (WAP Session Emulator). The responsibilities included leading the design effort, coordinating the development process with developers in MWGBU and guiding them.
Worked on HLTAPI team to create HLTAPI specification for L2TPv3 protocol. HLTAPI is a high level vendor independent API for test automation. This is a special voluntary assignment that I had taken up. This involved getting together all the stakeholders of L2TPv3 protocol in Cisco, gathering the requirements and defining the specification. Got the specification reviewed by the vendors and published it. From March 2001 to October 2005 (4 years 8 months)
