I've built my career focused on developing skills in 3 areas:
1) Communication
2) Decision Making
3) Leading People
For communication, I've built strategies to be communicated to thousands, been an award winning salesman, and taught college courses.
For decision making, I've honed my skills through several years working in strategy and decision support for top companies and been an award winning innovator.
For leading people, I've been awarded for leading both strategy/intelligence teams and innovation teams, turned two sales branches from worst to first, and built my own company.
The combination of these makes me unique - and I work hard to consistently deliver great outcomes.
Sr. Strategy Manager @ As a team of two, my boss and I make up the ACM Strategy team. We lead all strategic planning processes, the intelligence program, and also lead and/or contribute to multiple projects that are complex or span multiple teams (such as our global resource allocation recommendation).
I personally own the intelligence program - including authoring the source of industry and competitive analysis truth (the Black Book) for long rang planning processes, creating the structure to enable sharing intelligence and eliminating duplicative work, and leading a team of ~30 to create intelligence documents throughout the year.
I've been recognized for my work - including promotions, top rankings, and awards - and been asked to consult with other teams trying to achieve similar success in strategy. From April 2012 to Present (3 years 9 months) Greater Seattle AreaFounder, CEO @ Athletics are in the midst of a revolution. There is massive amounts of information and data surrounding the game, but few have figured out how to actually leverage that into a competitive advantage. Impakt Athletics solves this problem - we make insight usable for athletic coaches.
As founder and CEO, I define the strategy and product roadmap - then work with our team to bring it to life.
Impakt has been gathering customer feedback (through retired NFL players, D1 Universities, and prominent high school programs) and will begin testing this fall. From April 2014 to Present (1 year 9 months) Greater Seattle AreaSr. Strategy Manager - New Business @ As a Sr. Strategy Manager for New Business, I developed the prioritization methodology for the Innovation funnel and the specifics around the strategy and approach of high potential initiatives. I defined and measured success criteria at different checkpoints, and oversaw a team that would execute the experiments. I was the only Sr. Manager to lead multiple experiments, led the highest performing experiment in the portfolio, and led the experimentation plan for the company's #1 priority - the Connected Store.
I progressed quickly at Best Buy - being promoted and adding additional responsibilities several times during my career. I began as a Sr. Financial Analyst for Innovation - but then added all decision support functions for the Southeast US. A few months, my role was expanded to include the entire East half of the United States (still owning Innovation for the enterprise). Shortly thereafter, I was promoted to a Sr. Manager of Strategy for Innovation. Finally, I was also asked to oversee execution in addition to my strategy responsibilities.
My work was often recognized during my time at Best Buy - including adopting my measurement and experimentation approach as Standard Operating Procedure, winning two Chairman's Innovation Awards (then being asked to judge the event), top rankings, and the several promotions mentioned above. From January 2008 to April 2012 (4 years 4 months) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaMBA Careers Services Graduate Assistant @ As a graduate assistant, I helped career services bring companies to campus, create interest in company presentations amongst students, and handled logistics for most of the company events.

From May 2007 to August 2007 (4 months) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaAssistant Branch Manager @ As an Assistant Branch Manager, I was responsible for driving initiatives within the branch as well as my own sales targets. I led the plastics program, developed new team members, and managed the logistics and day to day activities of the office.
During my time, I led the turnaround of the plastics program from worst to first at two different branches. Both of the team members I developed went on to become managers. I led the district (approximately 60 employees) in 9 of 13 tracked sales categories - and was selected to be 1 of 25 from around the country to create a National Sales Training program. From May 2004 to August 2006 (2 years 4 months) Des Moines, Iowa AreaSupplemental Finance Instructor @ As a Supplemental Finance Instructor, I taught students a junior level course while I was a junior myself. Students would attend lectures with the professor, then attend optional discussion groups with me to further dig into content. I would create my own lectures, discussion guides, and student materials.
During my semester teaching, attendance increased from approximately 20 students to 130 students at the end of the semester. From January 2003 to May 2003 (5 months) Special Projects Intern @ As a Special Projects Intern, I completed and assisted with several priority projects - including analyzing several variables impact on store demand for better forecasting and analyzing spoilage tendencies and costs on overall product line profitability.
