I have an extensive experience in building up platforms and OS, a unique experience in application development on mobile as well as a thorough understanding of how to ramp up high-quality operations for product development.
I was involved in the product development of half a dozen of mobile products and I have a wide experience in the areas of SW development, UX design, product creation and operations.
I can manage large organizations but I also thrive in start up like environment that incubates great technology within small and nimble teams.
I was part of the original team of ten engineers that created, ramped up and drove the Linux and Open-source Maemo & Meego platform. I have lead SW development for webOS and Open webOS at Palm as well developer relations. I headed the Advanced Software Platform for Samsung building the software platform and services of tomorrow.

From July 2012 to April 2015 (2 years 10 months) Vice-President, Head of Development, Open webOS & webOS @ Responsible of all SW development for Open webOS. Responsible for the community management and developer relation for Open webOS and all of our open source contributions. Drove the engineering teams to release Open webOS 1.0 and the development effort that would latter materialize in the LG acquisition of webOS for the LG TV. From june 2011 and January 2012: responsible for Application and Platform SW development for webOS and webOS devices for the Palm-Pre, Veer and HP touchpad product lines. From June 2011 to July 2012 (1 year 2 months) Senior Director, Meego Devices - SW, User Interface & Operations @ My efforts during this period were geared towards producing the critically acclaimed N9, developing the Meego platform to support several products in parallel and delivering the entire portfolio of Nokia’s high-end mobile devices.
• Head of Programs and Operations: responsible for all operations and deliveries for all SW programs for meego – responsible for the schedule and quality of the delivery of the whole sw stack for all our programs, leading QA and validation and ramping up the operations to future products.
• Head of User Interface Creation: I was heading the teams of graphical and interaction designers that designed the new UX concept for the N9 and I coordinated personally the work between engineering, UX designers and product management to bring the revolutionary design to the market.
• Head of Application SW development: during this time, I kept my responsibility as the technical head for all application SW and development as well some framework and middleware components for the Meego platform and products.
• Member of the Meego Leadership Team: strategy, roadmapping, participated to the creation of Meego.com From January 2010 to June 2011 (1 year 6 months) Director, Maemo Devices, Head of Application Development @ In 2007, the Maemo Devices entity was created to produce the SW and HW to support all high-end Nokia products on top of the Maemo platform (which would later become Meego). I was appointed to ramp-up the organization covering Applications development. Among my achievements:
• Delivered the application set for Nokia’s first Maemo based mainstream phone - the N900.
• Responsible for delivering the internet experience on our product – among which: our desktop-like browsing experience – which was regarded as best-in-class at the time, our IM and voice/video calling SW (the N900 was the first ever mobile terminal to support full Skype video).
• Drove the technology selection and strategy
• Grew the organization to develop several products in parallel and ramped it up to 150 internal employees by end of 2009.
• Member of the Maemo Device leadership team, and as such I was involved in all major discussions and decisions related to our platform strategy.
• Developed our Multi-site strategy and ramped up 2 new sites for Maemo: one in Bangalore –India - which was built as an alternative center for SW development and one
site in Mountain View, USA to focus essentially on business development with important partners such as Facebook, Google, etc… From December 2007 to January 2010 (2 years 2 months) Senior RD Manager, OSSO (Open Source Software Operations), Head of Application Development @ The OSSO organization (Open Source Software Operations) goal was to bring Nokia’s first Open Source and Linux based mobile terminal on the market and build an open source platform to support future product development. I led a sub-entity covering OSSO application development and became a member of the OSSO Management Team. My organization consisted of an internal team of 40 employees. I ramped up, grew, and resourced my organization personally while driving the SW development.
• Participated to the definition, concepting and delivery of the first-ever internet tablet on the market in 2005 – the Nokia 770 internet tablet.
• Participated to the creation of the Maemo platform- which would later become Meego by merging with Intel’s Moblin – and helped defined Maemo’s open source strategy.
• Delivered the whole application set for the Maemo OS2006, OS2007 and OS2008, and participated to the release of all the OS versions.
• Participated to the definition and development of the Nokia internet tablet product line (N800, N810, and N810 WIMAX).
• Responsible for providing the “internet-without-excuse” experience on our products. Introduced to our platform - and for the first time on a mobile terminal: a Mozilla-based browser, Full Adobe Flash Player support, and the Telepathy framework to support our IM and voice/video calling SW.
• Developed business and RD relationship with key internet partners (Google, Skype, RealNetworks, etc…). From October 2005 to December 2007 (2 years 3 months) Senior Engineering Manager OSSO - Head of Applications & Multimedia RD @ This is a continuation of the work covering the period from June 2003-Feb 2004. I was promoted to the role of line manager while continuing my project management and delivery responsibility. I delivered the application set and multimedia middleware for the Nokia internet tablet 770 and prepared for the follow-up products. Hiring, sourcing, budgeting, people management. From February 2004 to October 2005 (1 year 9 months) Project Manager - OSSO (Open Source Software Operations) @ The OSSO organization goal was to bring Nokia’s first Open Source and Linux based mobile terminal on the market and build an open source platform to support product development I was responsible for the delivery and quality of the whole application set as well as the Multimedia framework and codecs. I participated to product concepting, defined requirements and use cases for the applications, managed and ramped up the projects from technology selection to final implementation. From June 2003 to February 2004 (9 months) Senior Research Engineer @ I was part of the initial group of individuals that studied the possibility of building an embedded platform based on Linux and open source software – this initiative would later become the OSSO team and yield the Maemo platform. My focus was essentially on application and middleware development with a particular focus on Multimedia. I outlined the multimedia architecture for multimedia FW and HW acceleration, which would latter on be reused for Nokia N770 internet tablet.

Prototyping, Integration, architecture From January 2001 to June 2003 (2 years 6 months) Senior Research Engineer @ Researched third-party technologies from the accessibility field in order to enhance the usability of Nokia terminals. Product management. Implementation and Prototyping. Production of patents. Usability research. From September 2000 to January 2001 (5 months) SW Design Engineer @ Prototyping, development and testing around the H.324 video-telephony standard.
