Before joining Yelp, I was a Computer Science M.Eng. (masters) student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I worked on a research project at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) called List.it with Prof. David Karger and Dr. Max Van Kleek.
List.it is an online note-taking tool - a Firefox add-on, a website, a iPhone/android web-app, and lately a Chrome Extension - which our group uses to analyze how people take and interact with their online notes. I built and maintain the two webapps and the Chrome Extension, which are studies in minimal user interface design, making the process of creating and finding notes as simple as possible.

My work focuses on analyzing how users of List-it -- a firefox add-on, website, and lately chrome add-on -- actually use the tool to gain insight into how to build PIM tools that are more effective at capturing and allowing a user to effectively utilize their information scraps. From January 2011 to October 2012 (1 year 10 months) Software Engineering Intern @ Prototyped and developed visualizations for Google's internal capacity planning system that is used to make sizable budget decisions. From June 2011 to August 2011 (3 months) Undergraduate Researcher - CSAIL Haystack Group @ Co-authoring a paper submission on micro-note taking tools in personal information practice for ACM SIGCHI. Analyze how List-it users interact with their notes and the types of notes they take. Created pure HTML5 and iPhone optimized website applications to allow users to manage their personal notes. Created website redaction tool for users to censor, categorize, and submit their notes to the MIT Information Scrap Corpus (MISC), the world's first public corpus for personal note-taking research.
