It is a framework for efficient- stream production for playback- image compression for the service to support content discovery- execution of content based deep learning algos Los Gatos, CASoftware Engineer @ Radiance Technologies (Comcast) Built an internal test cloud and used all under-utilized compute resources to help understand demand and load patterns on the Radiance framework. We extended the same framework to help- verify scale and performance improvements- scale to a desktop service From March 2006 to March 2007 (1 year 1 month) Los Altos, CASr. Director, Software Engineering @ ZillionTV ZillionTV was a venture backed startup that built out a subscription free video on-demand system. Build the backend engineering team (I was the first hire) and delivered the the distributed operations support system of the on-demand entertainment service. API/Edge services(browse, search & personalized access to content), a custom ad engine to generate targeted ad-supported VOD playlists, content metadata ingestion, commerce and entitlement, customer acquisition and service topology management. From March 2008 to June 2010 (2 years 4 months) San Jose, CACo-Founder & Director of Engineering @ Optena Corporation I was a founding employee and was very Involved with investor pitches and securing Series A funding from Interwest Partners.Optena introduced the notion of an enterprise compute cloud. We provided software stack and tools to enable enterprises to transform their data center and desktop resources into an utility to address batch workloads. The core was based off the Condor platform from Univ of Wisconsin, Madison and Optena provided the enterprise framework.Later, I moved to the customer solutions role where I was working with the sales/marketing team to build vertical solutions on top of the Optena infrastructure for software engineering, hi-tech manufacturing and financials industry. I ran the customer advisory council, represented Optena in the grid standards bodies. From April 2001 to February 2006 (4 years 11 months) San Jose, CAEngineering Manager - Content Platform Engineering @ Netflix Build applications that enable Netflix to have the world's largest curated, localized global streaming library. The focus is to manage global rights, source the best available video, audio and timed text (captions/subtitles), great images and precise metadata. This includes messaging frameworks, search tools, crowd sourcing plug-ins, real-time insights, portals, and APIs; all homegrown and running in the Amazon EC2 framework.
