NCCI has six linear accelerators, approx 120 FTE radiotherapy staff, and an operating budget of $15 million p.a. Received NSW Premier's Gold Public Service Award for NCCI project. Prior Director of Oncology Services, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore (1200 beds). Identified need for/planned $40 million expansion of radiation facilities in Western Singapore.
•Clinical: Clinical experience at Centres in Australia and Singapore. Special interest in breast, prostate, and lung cancer. Inaugural chair of NSW Cancer Institute National Radiation Oncology Practice Guidelines (www.EviQ.org.au). Steering committee for Cancer Council Localised Prostate Cancer booklet.
•Research: Conjoint Associate Professor, University of NSW. > 60 publications (inc. Lancet, JCO), > 50 international/national presentations, 7 ASTRO talks (4 invited), 8 research prizes. Grad Dip in Clinical Epidemiology. PI for >$330,000 grants. Reviewer for Lancet, IJROBP, Cancer. Member ASTRO Health Service Research committee.
•Education: MPH thesis in CME for Radiation Oncologists. Designed + gained RANZCR accreditation for Singapore registrar training program. Previous RANZCR Post- Fellowship Education Committee member. Previous RANZCR examiner in Statistics. Prior member Singapore Specialist Training Committee
•Quality assurance: Designed RANZCR Peer Review audit instrument. External Auditor for Victorian Department of Health Single Machine Unit Trial. External Auditor for International Atomic Energy Agency. Member RANZCR Quality Improvement Committee. Expert radiation oncology reviewer for the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) Clinical Indicators: 2012, 2013.
Director Cancer Services @ Provide strategic support to the LHD for the provision of cancer services to Northern NSW. From July 2012 to Present (3 years 6 months) Director Cancer Services @ Provide strategic support to the LHD for the provision of cancer services to the mid north coast of NSW. From July 2012 to Present (3 years 6 months) Director of Radiation Oncology @ Provide strategic and operational oversight for the NCCI Department of Radiation Oncology. This Department consists of 3 integrated centers across 500km of the East Coast of Australia. It incorporates 6 linear accelerators, employs 7 radiation oncologists, has an operating budget of over $15 million a year, and treats around 2000 new patients each year. From March 2005 to Present (10 years 10 months) Senior Radiation Oncologist @ Provision of radiation oncology management for cancer patients, with a special interest in prostate, breast and lung cancers. Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is used for all of these sites. Special interest in patient- centered care, and involving patients in the decision-making process. Research interests include dose-escalated image-guided IMRT for prostate cancer, decision-making, and peer review of clinical practice. North Coast Cancer Institute Department of Radiation Oncology Seniors Committee. From 2013 to Present (2 years) Member @ Member Asia Pacific Radiation Oncology Special Interest Group (APROSIG): group aims to improve the treatment of cancer in developing countries of the Asia Pacific through the efforts of volunteer Radiation Oncologists. Through this group NCCI is helping to train radiation oncologists, physicists and radiation therapists from Cho Ray Hospital Vietnam via site visits and clinical attachments. From January 2013 to 2013 (less than a year) Director Area Cancer Services @ Provide strategic support to the Area Health Service for the provision of cancer services to Northern NSW From March 2005 to June 2012 (7 years 4 months) Member Health Services Research Committee @ Role of international representative on this committee, which aimed to improve the profile of Health Services Research across ASTRO membership. Responsibilities included convening workshops at ASTRO, participating in standalone workshops, aiding ASTRO clinical guideline development, and representing the group on an American Ambassadors tour of Beijing Radiation Oncology departments. Time served on this committee was the maximum allowed. From 2004 to 2012 (8 years) USAHead Department Radiation Oncology @ Provided strategic and operational management of the new TTSH Department of Radiation Oncology. From 2004 to 2005 (1 year) Consultant/Senior Consultant Radiation Oncologist @ Provided radiation oncology care for cancer patients. From January 2000 to 2005 (5 years)
