Toby has spent the last 12 years in lead technical roles, designing and building products from start-up to successful global businesses across a number of sectors, most recently in gaming and entertainment, and is currently CTO and Co-Founder of Space Ape Games, an award-winning mobile gaming studio based in the heart of London.
Prior to co-founding Space Ape Games, Toby was CTO at Mind Candy for over six years, leading the company’s technical and product teams from pre-revenue to success with over 80 million registered users for the company’s hero brand, Moshi Monsters. He was a key member of the award winning management team that grew the business from 16 to over 180 employees across multiple locations.
Before Mind Candy, Toby worked across a range of industries in dual product / engineering roles, predominately in small teams focused on bringing innovations in application and web development to large established companies.
Toby regularly shares his years of experience with other start-ups and entrepreneurs and is a mentor at Seedcamp as well as running his own CTO mentoring group.
Toby studied Software Engineering with AI and specialises in agile product development processes, high calibre team recruitment and development, scalable internet architectures, analytical product management, team leadership, innovation and strategy.
