Principal Developer @ My role has changed lot over the years, to begin with I was a specialist in JavaScript and was given all the challenging JavaScript orientated work. Then, after constantly being frustrated waiting for the backend component to be developed before I could continue, I learnt Java. Learning Java (and soon after Scala) was one of the best things I ever did, being able to develop a feature end to end I found really liberating, I could make whatever I wanted. I still continue to do full stack development, but what I find more important about my role now is to lead the frontend architecture of our code base, facilitate decision making across the teams, educate people and document the way we do things.
