At UF I was a Graduate Research Assistant in the ACIS Lab (http://acis.ufl.edu). I worked for NSF's iDigBio project (http://idigbio.org) on automating the import of tree like data. My research focused broadly on schema transformations in data integration systems, with particular focus on flat and self-referential representation of ranked hierarchical tree data. I worked on mapping formalisms to express schema mappings as an extension of IBM CLIO's Mapping Specification Language (MSL) (See publication for details). I also developed two components (Using Java) for Talend Open Studio for Data Integration which would perform schema transformation between flat format and self-referential format tree data. The components work on MySQL data and generated complex queries at run time to perform the transformation.
Before UF I worked as a (Senior)/ Software Engineer at Folio3 Software (http://folio3.com) where I gained considerable experience of web development using the LAMP stack. One of my major achievements was building the new version of http://gamezebo.com (current is a newer version than the one I was involved with). As the lead developer I designed the architecture and database design for the entire application. I developed custom modules for Drupal using php. I also designed the MySQL database schema for high performance queries. I also did considerable amount of work with front-end / client side integration using jQuery and JavaScript. I was also responsible for Apache server management and tuning, running and deploying new builds. We also employed technologies like Varnish, memcache and CDN (for static files delivery). I was also responsible for post deployment support.
