Ricky Ashenfelter is a recent graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, MA. He focused his coursework and extracurriculars on Sustainability, Entrepreneurship & Innovation - particularly as they relate to the cleantech and food industries.
Currently, Ricky is the Co-Founder & CEO of Spoiler Alert, a food-tech solution to help businesses manage surplus food and organic waste. At Sloan, he was the Teaching Assistant for 15.366 Energy Ventures, MIT's premier energy entrepreneurship course. Ricky also served as the Managing Director of the MIT Clean Energy Prize, one of the nation's premier clean energy startup competitions that distributes more than $300,000 to student ventures aimed at solving the world's energy problems.
Prior to MIT Sloan, Ricky was a Senior Consultant in Deloitte’s Sustainability practice, contributing to client projects focused on greenhouse gas emissions inventories, sustainability reporting via CDP, energy management, supply chain analyses, and emissions reduction strategies. Ricky served in roles focused on the identification of energy and carbon efficiencies within retail and consumer product value chains, and developed financial modeling tools that help companies forecast business-as-usual activities, evaluate emissions reduction projects and set actionable strategies and goals.
Ricky holds a B.S.B.A. in Finance, Management & Environmental Studies from Georgetown University. Prior to joining Deloitte, Ricky was a Senior Associate at ClearCarbon Inc. and interned with the U.S. EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division.

Served in a product management role for the development of a carbon accounting and energy analytics software platform. Led the development of a forecasting model for a sportswear company to quantify the financial impacts of implementing operational and supply chain initiatives; presented $700 million in margin enhancement potential to C-suite executives. Identified the most energy-intensive elements of companies’ operations and used results to develop energy reduction goals, target capital expenditure investments, and enable tracking of year-over-year KPI improvements. Developed a supplier engagement strategy for an $8 billion household products manufacturer; managed cross-functional relationships with and collected energy and environmental data from 200 of the company’s largest global suppliers.
