In addition to organising and deliver excursions I also had to arrange all passenger details, E-ticket, handle additional payments and relevant trip information. This has markedly improved administration, interpersonal and networking skills. Another occasion when I worked for TUI was for three weeks in Spain where I undertook the role of Student Assistant. This was where I was responsible for increasing safety awareness for the students on tour by maintaining a visible presence, first aid response and reacting quickly, rationally & positively to any situations that may arise. I also had to make all reasonable efforts to reduce the number of and the seriousness of, injuries & incidents sustained by tourists, making me a key player in the ILOVETOUR team. From February 2013 to April 2013 (3 months) Social Secretary @ The DJ Society is very active within the University and the local area, hiring out our services for, club nights, society events and private functions. Our broad aim is to create opportunities for DJs and producers – aspiring, budding, proficient or experienced and to developing their skills, to network and creating some really good events! My role as social secretary involves planning monthly events and regular meetings for members of the society, including trips away, promotional stands at fresher’s fairs and welcome fresher’s party’s. We also host the second room of “Unisex,” a successful drum and bass/ dub step night, alongside acts such as Rusko, Chase and Status and Camo and Crooked to name a few. Most of my efforts are focus on event management, graphic design as well as all the other fundamentals of DJing. Over the last year the society has also gained a sponsorship for the first time, with the well know drink brand “Monster” and we have invested in our own equipment, so new members can practice and learn without the need to invest in their own expensive set up. Some events where I had a key influence in were the Heineken brand launch, Sean Paul concert, East African conference for diplomats, silent disco, East African fashion show and well as many others. In addition to supporting the C.E.O I also had my own personal workload and responsibilities. These included carrying out specific projects and research in order to present briefing papers, market reports and event proposals. One such task involved me researching and compiling a data base of all the main contacts at the top radio stations in the whole of Africa. This role also required me to think out of the box and use my initiative to come up with ideas. For example when organising a fashion show Talent Africa needed to gain sponsor to cover additional costs. In response to this I drew up a proposal and presented it to an exclusive club named Rouge, which involved them sponsoring the fashion show, and in return they could host the shows after party. Once I had explained the benefits such as boosting publicity through the use of high profile celebrities and designers as well as increased revenue through additional drink sales, the club agreed to be a sponsor. This resulted in a very successful event and after party, where all stakeholders where happy and good relationships were built. From May 2012 to August 2012 (4 months) UgandaOutbound Telesales Advisor @ In this position I made calls to potential customers regarding home or motor insurance. It involved using sales techniques, objection handling and adhering to regulatory requirements in order to close sales at first contact, with customer satisfaction being paramount.
