Advanced Systems Engineer - Human Space @ Honeywell Aerospace Leading a team of scientists and engineers in partnership with NASA to develop CDRILS, an advanced life support system for long-duration manned missions to deep space.CDRILS (Carbon Dioxide Removal by Ionic Liquid System) is a next-generation technology that uses ionic liquids to capture carbon dioxide directly from a spacecraft atmosphere in a way that is more effective, efficient, reliable, re-usable, safer and smaller than any other solution. CDRILS is targeted for implementation on the International Space Station where it is expected to reduce CO2 concentration on the space station by 50%, alleviating health and performance issues currently experienced by astronauts due to high levels of CO2.Led the proposal effort that resulted in a multimillion dollar partnership with NASA to fund the research and development of this technology. Led the proposal effort to the ISS National Laboratory, resulting in a multimillion dollar award in cost avoidance.Inventor of 9 provisional patents on life support system processes. Advanced CDRILS from TRL1 to TRL5 within 5 years. Performed trade and system sizing studies. Identified materials that enabled the system to reach higher performance and lower system size, weight, power and cooling. Responsible for managing customer relationships and communications, delivering customer-facing technical and business presentations, developing product requirements and ensuring products meet customer schedule and cost objectives.
