Working in game development since 2005, I have spent most of my time developing web-based educational games. Began working as a Flash Developer using ActionScript 1.0 and have since worked with various other technologies, including Flixel, OpenFL, Haxe, C#, and Unity 3D. I have contributed to a number of open-source game development projects such as Flixel and HaxeFlixel.
I have been teaching courses on Videogame Studies, Web Programming, and Digital Media Production since 2008. I have presented my research in a wide variety of academic conferences and have published in several edited books. My writing can also be found online at Play the Past and on my own blog.
I am currently working on my PhD in the Department of Communication at the University of Utah.
Game Developer/Programmer @ Lead Game Programmer and Developer for ASPIRE, the outreach program for the Telescope Array project. Responsible for development of educational games and interactive lessons to teach kids physics, astronomy, and math. Responsibilities included interviewing faculty members, filming department facilities, and doing post-production work. From October 2007 to May 2008 (8 months) Greater Salt Lake City AreaTelecom Lab Technician @ Assisted students and faculty in the Department of Communication with video editing. Assisted with the operation and maintenance of studio equipment. Checked out equipment to video production students. From November 2006 to May 2008 (1 year 7 months) Greater Salt Lake City AreaWeb Developer @ Designed and programmed educational games to teach kids basic safety principles in conjunction with the art department. Assisted with the redesign of the Robotronics website.
