Two years ago I started down the path towards becoming a developer. I left a career in counseling to write code full time. I love turning beautifully designed mocks into clean, bug free websites. And I love building web apps that aren’t merely static sites - playing with data is a ton of fun. I am comfortable
Before I even received my acceptance letter to Dev Bootcamp, as a final project I knew I wanted to create an application that would support non-profits working with youth and families. I saw that goal through to completion when my project was chosen to be built by a team of engineers at the school. Giftdriver became more than just a student project; it was picked up by a Bay Area non-profit to be used during the holiday season. Its second year running the program had more families adopted than ever before. Giftdriver is testament to my tenacious ways and my determination to use technology to make the world better for everyone.
A graduate of Dev Bootcamp where I spent 80-100 hours a week learning how to build web applications, I transitioned away from a career as a youth and family advocate and towards a career in technology as a developer. I've always had an affinity for jumping in and learning how to do things on the fly. Whenever I find myself facing something I don't understand or am unfamiliar with, I gear up for the challenge and the enjoyment of becoming aware of my ignorances. I am constantly surprised by how much I don't know and at the same time, by how much I am capable of learning and mastering.
