Eighteen years later I retired from the Army and found myself wanting to create a new career that would allow me to utilize the skills I had gained in my 22 years of service. Like most soldiers I enjoy being challenged, helping others become successful, and have strong attention to detail. Unlike most soldiers I enjoyed meeting with, talking to and recruiting talented individuals to join the service working as an Army recruiter for 8 years.
I was fortunate to experience many different roles in the Army and upon retiring I knew that my new career had to be in a field that provided me with a variety of challenges daily and allowed for victory consistently, landing me in the world of corporate recruiting. Looking for a good solider is not that different that looking for the right person to fill the open role you have within your company. The right candidate must possess the desired skill set and have the motivation to do what is necessary to help your company achieve greatness.
I utilize the interview skills I gained in my role of Military Police officer to quickly weed through candidates and share only the resumes of those that I find to be honest and sincere in their search. I utilize job boards and LinkedIn to locate passive candidates and have strong success rate in my cold calling attempts. I also have a large network for referrals.
My idea of success is placing a person in a position that they love and challenges them to grow and learn, becoming the best at what they do. If I achieve that I have helped a candidate find a company they can build a career with and provided you my client a loyal, hardworking employee.
