Principal | Evangelist | IT Recruiter @ Coming soon... From December 2012 to Present (3 years 1 month) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaSpeaker, Presenter and Coach @ For 8+ years I have been teaching people how to do a job search, network, use LinkedIn and social networking tools.
As the name Be Your Own Headhunter suggests this is a more aggressive approach and comes from my experience seeing the Recruiter and HR side of things along with techniques I use to find and research clients and candidates.
Presentations have been given to user groups, professional associations, chamber of commerce, colleges and universities, job search groups and other groups with attendees ranging in all ages and in groups in size from 15-250.
I also do these online with webinars too.
If you are interested in having me speak to your group or create a specific webinar send me an email paul@mnheadhunter.com From March 2002 to Present (13 years 10 months) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaCo-Founder & Advisory Board @ What started as an attempt to get the local bloggers who wrote on career, HR, recruiter related topics together for lunch in 2007 has turned into the largest recruiter group in the Midwest with 3,200+ on the email list.
From 2007-2012 I was the Co Founder and Coordinator and hosted 16 conferences hosted at Fortune 500 companies with 200-250 Recruiter and HR pros in attendance.
We brought in national speakers to supplement our hometown bench of talented trainers and covered a wide variety of topics from sourcing, recruiting and closing of candidates to the use of social media, mobile, working with hiring managers, SEO and many other tools.
In 2012 the group was acquired and I continued as a volunteer with the group on the advisory board through 2013. Over the 6+ years 24 conferences were held. From June 2007 to December 2013 (6 years 7 months) Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaVP Recruiting - Co Founder @ coming soon... From February 2011 to December 2012 (1 year 11 months) Managing Partner - IT Recruiter @ Taking what had been an eight year IT search career and the best of different recruiting and search firm models Nerd Search was created.
An “old school” recruiter who adds the telephone, cold calling, networking events and a referral program to the cool new toys like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, the blog and other social tools to build talent pools and passive candidate profiles to source, recruit and place IT professionals in Minnesota.
And when those tools do not work the word “headhunter” applies. It may not be PC but it is what I do.
4 aspects to the business:
Full time, permanent placement
Multiple hire projects
IT Consulting and Contracting
Recruiter and HR training and speaking
Current skill sets I am focusing on but not limited to are: Java, SharePoint, .Net, PHP/LAMP, IT Security, Technical Architects, Software Engineers and Web Developers. From July 2006 to February 2011 (4 years 8 months) Managing Partner - IT Recruiter @ e-Strategies group was a 3rd party IT search firm working with companies of all sizes in the Twin Cities and their offices across the country for eight years.
The firm evolved during the eight years. From a small staff to me working on my own to a small confederation of recruiters. From dot com growth and Y2K to the recession of the early 2000's. I saw it all.
e-Strategies Groups was folded in the summer of 2006 as the concept of what was to become Nerd Search was finally implemented. From April 1998 to June 2006 (8 years 3 months)
