I’m an experienced systems operations engineer used to handling site reliability, administration, engineering, architecture and management for global services as well as a very large publicly facing website.

Mgr/Lead DevOps Engineer @ At Neustar, I was responsible for a team of 6 SAs & 1 DBA handling 4 product lines spanning the entire globe. We used AWS, and Rackspace as well as many different Service Providers for servers wherein we often ran multiple VMs predominantly using VMWare, KVM and XEN. We utilized Chef, Jenkins and Ansible for CM, Primarily Git for Version Control. We worked closely with both Development and QA groups in a DevOps mode doing continuous integration as well as rapid deployment. I have heavy experience with Jira, and have a Scrum Masters certification. I developed DR plans for 2 of the 3 product lines, and worked under many SLAs covering them. From September 2013 to January 2015 (1 year 5 months) Mgr/Lead Unix SA @ I was responsible for installation, configuration, monitoring, load balancing, testing, and tool creation, for 900+ Unix servers in 2 data centers. This included our external DNS, SAP, Oracle, mysql, clustering, virtualization, and cloud services, and our content delivery network for Nook media and e-books.
I have in depth experience with CFengine, and Puppet. I also work with Open-View, Nagios and automating OpenStack. I have written numerous tools - scripts and programs that bind the monitoring, systems management and administration together into a cohesive entity. From June 2003 to August 2013 (10 years 3 months) Principal Systems Engineer @ I was responsible for systems design, development, configuration and administration for several large scale, highly available, real time, secure, web accessed systems. My duties ranged from writing requirement specifications, through hardware selection to being lead network designer, systems administrator and the technical resource and support for the application teams – including setting development and administration policies and standards.
I also designed and developed messaging systems for such telco’s as Verizon. These provided text, multimedia and voice messaging for 5 million subscribers per system. From 1996 to 2003 (7 years) Sr. Software Systems Architect @ Responsible for projects bringing wireless multimedia capabilities to the hospital environment e.g cellular technologies to supply X-rays, CAT scans etc. to doctors in field situations. From 1992 to 1995 (3 years) Head of Computer Engineering & Software @ I designed/developed a portable real time 3-D vision system, using Multiple computers with shared memory, Sobel algorithms, splines, image compression, image enhancement.
* I designed and developed the Computer/communication systems and robotic carrier for the BILL OF RIGHTS TOUR, using Satellite telemetry & monitoring.
* I developed a robotic camera system for a major television studio featuring a Remote graphical-overlay touch screen control system.
* I designed & Interfaced a motion picture camera and a 5- axis motion-control stage in a digital scanning electron microscope to film special effects for a major motion picture. From 1986 to 1991 (5 years)
