đź“– Summary
Research Scientist @ Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth Lebanon, NH, USAInstructor in Medicine (Cardiology) @ The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth Identifying the Pro-Inflammatory Mechanism in Septic ShockCurrent Funding Sources: American Heart Association (Scientist Development Grant) and SYNERGY (Scholar's Career Development Award)Role: PIThis study aims to elucidate the pro-inflammatory mechanism of HSNS4F5 in septic shock. This study focuses on in vitro and in vivo efficacy studies and will prove a comprehensive evaluation of the in vivo pro-inflammatory role of HSNS4F5 in sepsis. Focus is on optimizing, characterizing and validating anti-HS antibodies with drug-like properties to reduce the devastating impact of sepsis.During this study, I was also involved in a Phase I study with industry partner Celdara Medical, which focused on in vitro and in vivo safety studies of a mutant form of the plasma protein antithrombin. From January 2012 to December 2015 (4 years) Lebanon, NHResearch Associate @ The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth 3-OST-1 Regulation of Antithrombin Isoform PartitioningFunding Source: NIH/NHBLIRole: Research AssociateThis goal of this study is to elucidate the biological function of anticoagulant heparan sulfate (HSAT+) in cardiovascular diseases, in particular sepsis/septic shock. From December 2006 to December 2011 (5 years 1 month) Lebanon, NHPh.D. Candidate @ Radboud University Nijmegen Emphysema and Smoking-Related Changes In Heparan SulfatesFunding Source: Radboud University NijmegenRole: Ph.D. CandidateThis study aims to elucidate which structural alterations in heparan sulfate (HS) are involved in the pathogenesis of emphysema, and which alterations are induced by smoking. Project includes selection of scFv anti-HS antibodies using phage display technology and antibody characterization and optimization for therapeutic applications. The diagnostic potential of scFv antibodies as markers for the process of emphysema has been evaluated. This work has been described in my thesis entitled: "Heparan Sulfates in Human Lung, Development of Tools and Relation with Emphysema" and has resulted in a US patent, see below. From August 2001 to September 2006 (5 years 2 months) Nijmegen, the NetherlandsResearch Scientist @ The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth Research scientist specializing in the development and optimization of immunomodulatory antibody therapeutics, such as BiTEs and CARs and their use in cancer immunotherapy.
