Traveler @ Our lovely planet Explored Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Japan. Wish I had done it earlier! From March 2010 to October 2010 (8 months) Asia-PacificHead of Product @ Purisma Charted a vision of Master Data Management to directly serve business leaders in Sales, Marketing, and Finance rather than being buried away as IT infrastructure. Helped build our v1 product, got out in the field to implement our first customers, and then took on product management and marketing. From October 2003 to November 2007 (4 years 2 months) Founding Engineer @ Xtime (acquired by Cox Automotive in 2014) Xtime powers online auto appointments and helps coordinate labor, parts, etc. behind the scenes. I learned how to build reasonably complex systems, that managing people is not easy, and that driving change starts with helping people see how to connect their present to a different future. From September 1999 to October 2003 (4 years 2 months) Researcher under Andrew Lippman @ MIT Media Lab Designed parallel algorithms to identify discrete objects in motion video clips, back when having 32 CPUs was a big deal. Learned the importance of physical environment in reinforcing cultural values and promoting creativity. From September 1993 to May 1994 (9 months) Founder @ Plus Plus Plus Plus helps founders build early-stage R&D teams, and expand their leadership team as the business grows. We get in early and stick with our clients. We focus on bio and deep tech.Biotech - Drug discovery and bioengineering businesses where robotics, computer vision, data science, and world-class engineering meets translational science emerging from the lab.Deep Tech - Organizations pushing the boundary of what software can do and how software is built, emphasizing applied systems research, machine learning, and secure compute. We are research-driven and infinitely curious about technology, allowing us to go where others cannot. We are passionate about organizational design and understanding everything that goes into crafting high-performing teams. We pick clients that bring together a mission we feel good about, a market we believe in, and hard problems that attract deep thinkers. We prefer to work for equity, aligning everyone's long-term interests. San Francisco Bay AreaCEO and Co-Founder @ Nomic A tale of many pivots, from "Yelp for people," to a local business messaging platform, to a service industry recruiting network :)We had many amazing people on our team, whom I hold in high regard and care about deeply. Finding and working alongside them was one of my great privileges and successes.I learned a ton about consumer app design, marketing, and engineering, and had a lot of fun working different muscles after many years in enterprise software. We had the great fortune to work with sharp and supportive backers from Greylock and Sierra, alongside an outstanding cast of angel investors. From December 2010 to July 2016 (5 years 8 months) Oakland, CAProduct and Field Marketing Director @ Dun & Bradstreet D&B acquired Purisma to help businesses get more value out of D&B reference data. I helped sell our story during the acquisition, worked in the trenches with D&B's sales force to drive growth, and led efforts to relaunch our on-prem enterprise app as a cloud service. From November 2007 to March 2010 (2 years 5 months) Strategy and Business Development @ Teledesic I helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars from major telcos, banks, and investors around the world in pursuit of our dream of launching 288 satellites into low earth orbit in order to provide broadband data services to every point on the globe. Also earned my only patent during my short stint on the network engineering team :)Teledesic didn't make it for many reasons, but nonetheless this was one of the best jobs ever. I got to work with a bunch of amazingly talented people who were also incredibly fun to be around. From June 1997 to August 1999 (2 years 3 months) Kirkland, WA
