Munish Datta heads the creation of the strategy and delivery of Plan A (M&S’s sustainability programme) for M&S properties across the world, and heads up the team that delivers facilities management for the M&S Global HQ in London. He is an honorary Senior Associate of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and a member of the governments ‘Green Construction Board’.
Within its built environment, Plan A has enabled the retailer to become 36% more energy efficient, 25% more water efficient, divert all waste from landfill, become an industry leader in sourcing renewable energy and launch multi-award winning sustainable learning retail stores across the world. Since 2007, applying Plan A to M&S properties has contributed over £150m in net benefits. Munish sits on the advisory council of the National Energy Foundation is a regular guest lecturer and advisory board member for the University of Oxford Masters in Sustainable Urban Design. Munish is a trustee of Rama Foundation, a registered charity developing capacities and skills of disadvantaged communities around the world.
