Software Development Engineer @ I work on the underlying software behind Amazon’s Elastic Block Storage system, the “heart” of the system if you will. Development tasks include but are not limited to identifying and fixing critical customer facing bugs, refactoring and simplifying large swaths of the codebase, ensuring customer data security and integrity, designing and implementing high performance networking protocols, and constructing first-principles based large-scale system simulations. From January 2012 to Present (4 years) Software Developer @ I have worked on several projects with greatly varied platforms, toolchains, and difficulty. Notable contributions included the FACETS project, where I helped design and implement a high-performance C++ infrastructure designed to abstract and simplify the creation of scientific computing algorithms and deployed it to national supercomputing facilities (such as those found at NERSC or Oak Ridge National Labs). I also worked on smaller projects ranging from contracts to optimize the threading model of the Bullet real-time physics library to improving performance of the WIPL-D electromagnetic simulation software via the implementation of GPU based algorithms. From November 2006 to December 2011 (5 years 2 months) Master of Science (MS), Computer Science @ University of Colorado at Boulder From 2008 to 2011 Master of Science (MS), Plasma and High-Temperature Physics @ Princeton University From 2002 to 2006 Bachelor of Science (BS), Physics @ University of California, Irvine From 1999 to 2002 Mahmood Miah is skilled in: C++, CUDA, Python, Bash, High Performance Computing, Algorithms, Software Development
