Elizabeth (Liz) Brister is the manager of Entergy’s low-income customer initiatives. In this role, she oversees programs that provide bill payment assistance and other tools and resources to help low-income customers become more self-sufficient. Prior to this role, she served as the external affairs manager of Entergy Mississippi, Inc. for four years. Brister also spent almost 20 years working in the nonprofit sector including positions with the Foundation for the Mid South, Mississippi Museum of Art and Mississippi State University.
Brister received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Tulane University in New Orleans. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2005, she was awarded a fellowship to Harvard University’s Social Enterprise Initiative where she received a certificate for completing the Governing for Nonprofit Excellence course.
Brister currently serves on the executive committee of the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition board of directors and she is the chairman of the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits. She is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Mississippi and was recognized as one of the state’s 50 Leading Businesswomen by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2013.
Manager, Low-Income Customer Initiatives @ Support customer-focused activities in Entergy’s system of operating companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and City of New Orleans. Oversee more than $40 million in utility assistance payments to 200,000 customers annually. Forge alliances with like-minded organizations to improve the self-sufficiency of low-income customers through job training, education, tax credits and other asset-building programs. Advocate to Congress for utility bill payment assistance funds and work to ensure the effective use of federal funds in Entergy’s service area.
