A Math Major gone Recruiter, I am a firm believer in well-roundedness.
After graduating college, I went into recruiting with a tech recruiting agency called Jobspring Partners. Becoming a recruiter was unplanned, but after hearing what all the job could teach me, I went for it. This first post-college job helped me pick up and improve on a number of skills: communication, resume screening and writing, sourcing for top-talent, sales, business development, account management, time management, organization, and working with a team while at the same time competing against them (that one was the hardest). There are definitely more, but the skill, specifically the intangible one, that stuck with me most is how to BE IMPRESSIVE. As much as recruiting wasn't even a career I knew existed growing up, I love leaving (positive whenever possible) impressions on people. Recruiting allows me to do this. And to a large number of people at that.
I am currently at an awesome Silicon-Valley, tech company in the gaming industry called ROBLOX (corp.roblox.com). We build an incredible platform where kids and teens are building some very impressive games. Their massive amounts of passion for our product and what they can do with it is inspiring. So recruiting for this company hardly feels like a job at times and I couldn't see myself working anywhere else.
While I am not at at the office hustling to find our next Engineer, Product Manager, Designer, or ROBLOXian in general, I am doing something with music, art, or learning about web technologies.
Feel free to reach out. I'm NOT looking for a new job at this time. But always happy to network. Just, if you're a recruiter..please read my profile or I might just give away your lead ;P I'm not an Engineer!
