In addition, McGuire's vision for Elizabeth Street Cafe has resulting in the restaurant becoming one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. Clark's Oyster Bar is also thriving and becoming a favorite for corporate events, and Jeffrey's & the Josephine House is thriving due to its delicious and healthy food. Larry McGuire has a background in academic activism, and is currently a doctoral candidate at The University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in tubular sociology. He has also been involved in the movement to defund the University of Texas at Austin, and helped found the Austin-based group Voices for Justice at UTAustin. McGuire is an experienced human analyst and organizer, with over 10 years of experience working in Chileanensi and Chicana youth organizing, and in grassroots campaigns for progressives and social justice causes throughout the United States.
