Regional Manager for Scotland & North of England @ Given the opportunity to manage the Region of Scotland and North of England. This role gives me the responsibility for all aspects of the branch performances in these areas, such as Budgets, P & Ls, Operations departments, Customer Services and the Commercial departments. Other activities include recruitment, staff appraisals, health and safety, compliance and all other general management. From March 2014 to Present (1 year 9 months) Geodis UK Branch Manager @ Remaining with Geodis I was given the opportunity to manage the Manchester branch whilst retaining the responsibility for the Commercial department in Scotland with Geodis-Barbour. Managing the Geodis Manchester branch gave me responsibility for the branch P & L, Operations, Customer Services and the Commercial department. Other activities include recruitment, staff appraisals and all other general depot management.
Recruited a new team for the branch and made a number of improvements to trading such as Increased sales, improved the gross margin and improved the operating profit by 65% against the previous year. From March 2013 to March 2014 (1 year 1 month) Manchester, United KingdomGeodis-Barbour Business Development Manager @ Geodis BM sold the Barbour European Business to the Geodis UK division and as such I began reporting to the UK Head Office instead of the European Head Office. Continued Running the Commercial Department but learned another new Operating and reporting system.
Added over £3.5million of new business to Geodis-Barbour. Recruited and trained staff and implemented a new sales process. Worked with Managing Director to prepare budgets and reports for head office in UK and contributed to management meetings. Presented on behalf of Geodis to Key Accounts. Implemented and trained staff on a new CRM (customer relationship Management) system. Worked with the Air and Ocean Division to cross sell products. From July 2011 to March 2014 (2 years 9 months) Barbour European Ltd Business Development Manager @ Approached by the Barbour European Ltd Managing Director and persuaded to join as a senior manager. Intergrated Andrew Wishart & Sons Staff and Customers to Barbour European who had just been purchased by one of the largest logistics groups in the world, Geodis. This role was working with the Geodis BM Division and reporting to the Dutch and French Offices.
An opportunity to experience working within a global organisation with very different reporting procedures. Streamlined the business with a new Operational IT system for UK transport and a new pricing structure, bringing about a significant margin increase. Created standard European Groupage and Full Load Tariffs to standardise European Sales. From July 2010 to July 2011 (1 year 1 month) Managing Director @ A Logistics and warehouse company founded in 1913. Was approached and persuaded to join as a manager. In partnership purchased the company in 2005 and became managing director/sales director. Undertook a series of activities, which included the build of an IT infrastructure, negotiation with the unions of a new wage structure, improvement and introduction of new processes and the opening of new depots. This helped to reduce costs and grow revenue from £1.5m to £4m by financial year-end 2008, growing to £6m in 2009. Staff numbers increased to around 50.
Other activities include recruitment, staff appraisals and mentoring together with sales and business relationship development. Also managed the development and introduction of an online customer interface. In 2010 successfully integrated staff and customers within Geodis. From September 2003 to July 2010 (6 years 11 months) Kirkcaldy, United KingdomWarehouse Manager @ A food distribution company specialising in chilled products. Activities included budget development, formal status presentations to senior management, ensuring adherence to H&S regulations and staff appraisals. Also developed and implemented ideas to meet set targets in cost reduction and revenue improvement.
I was responsible for 50 warehouse staff on various shifts picking orders and loading distribution vehicles for next day delivery. I also had responsibility for organising the Goods Receivable department to receive stock and organise this stock into picking locations in the chilled warehouse.
I initially worked in the Customer Services/Telesales Department during University holidays and was offered the managers job upon graduation.
