About June Andrews

📖 Summary

My LinkedIn inbox just crossed 300+. I am very sorry, but I can not personally respond to all requests. I appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness of reaching out to me. Please allow me to provide a general response to LinkedIn requests: * I am happily placed at Pinterest. If you are recruiting for a new role please include, company, position, and ideal candidate description. I will read these and make any introductions I think are warranted. * Yes, Pinterest is hiring on all fronts! Attach your resume, a link to the Pinterest job posting or a description of what you are looking for, and I will forward it to the hiring manager closest to the role. 2016 is going to be a big year! * If we met at a conference, please include the conference title in the invite and I will accept. I will always read and think on follow up questions asked. About 1 in 4 questions asked I will answer in the next talk or blog post. Feedback on talks is considered a treasure. My favorite question to ask is 'What did you take away from the talk?' I then compare what I was trying to say and what you heard to find areas of improvement. * If you would like to make the leap to data science - firstly congratulations - it is an amazing field! My general advice is start doing the job you want to do and then learn on an as needed basis. Examples are understanding the real estate market in your neighborhood, analyzing New York City Data, and picking up that data project at work people are just a little bit nervous to touch. The boldest of moves is trial by fire - get hired as a data scientist. Study up - you can do it! * This is my favorite one - networking with audacious women and men in industry. I love hiking, golfing, dog walking, or gardening while exploring what data science and career growth can be. I have yet to turn down one of these invites and have made dear friends through them.Data Scientist @ From October 2015 to Present (3 months) Data Science Advisory Board @ Sharing experiences and debating tactics with data science veterans for teaching a new wave of data scientists. From August 2013 to June 2015 (1 year 11 months) Search and Data Engineer @ Rapid development experience. I tackled areas of need one after another and when possible built them to scale. Projects: * Built human evaluator for experiments. It was used when the experimental results were not statistically significant. * Built data pipeline for reconstructing and analyzing user sessions, from scratch, from logs, to map-reduce processing, to template metric evaluation. * Analyzed queries with iterative clustering to identify types of query intent. Built classifier of query intent. * Was part of the special ops team of 3 people for handling the massive data merge of Qype data (Yelp's main international competitor) into Yelp's databases. I was responsible for the algorithm. * Implemented several experiments for improving search quality. * Built first production query normalizer. * Set the record of fastest experimental release at 4 hours = 2 hours of coding and testing + 2 hour push. * Audited search quality metrics and created dashboard for search quality experimental impact.
