The broadcast to schools happened on Friday 15 November. The media mostly came in the form of tape, Sony SxS cards, and YouTube links. To assist with the YouTube ingesting, I wrote a program that took the video URL and transcoded the YouTube video to DVCPROHD; then transferred to IPDirector ready for Xedio. During my free time at the event, I also wrote a web-based system to manage the flow of media cards. It allowed the ingest operators to keep track of the card (throughout the ingest and archiving process), and perform the necessary checks before formatting. This meant any member of the team (including editing) could see the current state of the tape; what was on it; and when it would be available.
