-Responsible for the strategic and day to day operations of the fleet 43000MW of coal, gas - CCGT and biomass power plants, producing 65Twhrs with 3050 people and investing approximately 1.4bn Euros per annum in both day to day and long term investments. From April 2014 to December 2014 (9 months) Chief Operating Officer @ -Full safety, commercial, and technical responsibility for E.ON's Gas-CCGT fleet in Europe and supporting the international fleets in Russia, Brazil and Turkey.
-Member of the E.ON Generation GmbH Board and reporting to the CEO.
-Responsible for the strategic and day to day operations of the fleet 18000MW of CCGT assets. From January 2013 to April 2014 (1 year 4 months) Director Fleet Management Gas-Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Stations @ -Responsible for all long term (greater than in year) decisions associated with strategic, financial and technical performance of E.ON’s European Gas-CCGT power plant fleet. Includes 18000 MW of gas, oil and CHP power plants across 41 sites in 10 countries.
-Reporting to the COO of European Gas CCGT fleet and part of the European Gas CCGT Board
-Responsible for the development and implementation of business strategy and to improve business safety, commercial and technical performance.
-Activities include:
o Develop and implement the technical fleet strategy and technical procurement strategy which will set the capital spend of £3bn on the European assets
o Develop and implement the engineering and maintenance strategy including the management of risk and the optimisation of expenditure to maximise performance
o Provide technical and commercial support to the European assets on both short and long term technical issues
o Develop best practice on safety, operational, technical, organisational and commercial aspects of the European fleet
o Development of an effective working culture with all E.ON’s plants and businesses across Europe.
-Also responsible for all in year associated operations and maintenance activities of the EON UK Gas-CCGT Generation business, including 6.5% of UK generating capacity. Includes 5.5 GW of gas and oil conventional and CHP plant, with 20 sites and 500 people, and investments of £700mn over next 3 years. From January 2010 to December 2012 (3 years) Project Manager – Reorganisation of E.ON’s European Generation Business (Germany) @ -Led a project to develop the functionalisation of the Eon’s generation business (71GW, 110 sites, 24000 staff, £5bn EBIT) including the development of the case for change.
-Engaged with the Eon Country CEO’s and Generation MD’s to get acceptance of the new philosophy and agreement to its implementation for each country and also at the E.ON AG Management Board.
-Worked with other stakeholders - staff, unions, corporate functions in the development of the concept and to gain acceptance and support for its implementation.
-Developed and led the implementation of the functionalisation of the Generation business within EON. From February 2009 to December 2009 (11 months) Managing Director Generation @ -Responsible for the P&L and all associated operations and development activities of the EON UK Generation business, including 13% of UK generating capacity. Includes 10.5 GW of coal, gas and oil conventional and CHP plant, with 23 sites and 1400 people, and investments of 1.4bn over next 3 years.
-Reporting to CEO worked as part of EON UK Board to develop and implement business strategy to improve business performance.
-Activities include:
oDriving excellent safety performance of the business
oEngaging with government and opposition ministers and SOS’s as well as other stakeholders to influence the direction of energy policy in the UK
oDeveloping E.ON UK Generation strategy and influencing that of the E.ON group as a member of the E.ON wide Generation Steering Group
oDeveloping, consenting, contracting, constructing and commissioning new power plants for the E.ON UK generation fleet (fossil and nuclear)
oOperating and improving commercial and technical performance of the current operating, main and CHP, power plants safely and in compliance with all environmental and general legislation.
oDefining and agreeing with internal trading business on long term hedge, and short term trading strategy for Generation business From October 2008 to February 2009 (5 months) Director of Operations and Asset Management @ -Accountable to the Managing director for safety, commercial and technical performance Eon UK’s generation fleet, including 13% of UK generating capacity. Includes 10.5 GW of coal, gas and oil conventional and CHP plant and wind, with 37 sites and 1200 people

-Responsible for the safety strategy and delivery for all people and plant
-Responsible for the development and implementation of a technical and commercial strategy to maximise the value of the fleet.

-Responsible for the development and implementation of the people strategy within the operational business and for negotiation of pay and conditions for all staff within the Generation business.
-Accountable for capital spend of £165M and revenue spend of £400m per annum. From March 2007 to October 2008 (1 year 8 months) Director Operations and Asset Management @ -Reporting to the Managing Director, to be responsible for managing all of the 4.8m customers, and all stakeholder interfaces including media.
-Responsible for the operation of the distribution network covering 30000 sq KM, and 126000KM of overhead lines, cables and plant covering major cities such as Nottingham.
-Responsible for all customer contact and complaints, network operation and restoration, network performance.
-Development of key stakeholder, restoration and emergency response strategies and driving changes in the network engineering and maintenance to ensure optimum performance compared to regulatory and customer requirements.
-Responsible for improving the safety culture throughout the Distribution business through the leadership of the distribution safety policy and strategy team.
-Responsibility for a department of 585 staff and a budget of revenue £34m
-As part of the Distribution executive team working to develop the strategic direction for the business going into the next price review and beyond.
-Responsibility for the network strategy and asset management of the business valued at £1.2Bn over 5 years.
-Responsible for the investment, maintenance and repair strategies on the complete distribution network.
-Member of GEIEC and JRT, (emergency committee working for the DTI formed during national electricity and gas emergencies), also ENA board member and Northmere chairman.
