Jean Nei is a Software Developer in Verizon’s Leadership Development Program and his first rotation is within the Network and Technology organization. Jean works with VoIP surveillance systems to ensure the health and functionality of the network. This is done by developing new functionality for the surveillance systems and adding new nodes into the network. The goal is to support the TDM to VoIP migration and help position Verizon as the leading VoIP service.
Prior to Verizon, Jean attended Northeastern University and graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and Biology. During his time at Northeastern, Jean was a Senior Resident Assistant and was responsible for managing a team of 12 students. In this position he received the Excellence in Staff Performance Award and the Outstanding Community Developer Award. During his time at Northeastern he also had 3 internships where he improved his web development and analytical skills.
He first interned with Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a Web Application Developer. He was responsible for creating cutting edge applications for scientists at the company that assisted in their day to day activities. He also worked jQuery mobile to develop an application for the iPhone.
His second internship was at Partners Center for Personalized Genetic Medicine as an IT Analyst. He was responsible for improving and testing current web applications. He was also responsible for training new staff on current work flow processes and models. For his hard work and dedication, he received the Partners in Excellence award.
His last internship was at Harvard Medical School as a Web Developer. He was the lead developer for a clinical video application that would be used to improve autism diagnosis. For this project he utilized technologies like Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and Amazon Web Services. His project has been moved to Stanford (http://wall-lab.stanford.edu/people/alumni/).
