This initiated the first Spark platform in Huawei (in collaboration with UC Berkeley) to onboard Customer big data sets.I led an Innovation team to architect and build a proof of concept big data platform prototype to ingest both machine and user generated data from external environments and internal mobile and enterprise platforms to create insights, contexts and experiences. The current platform prototype has capability for heterogeneous data collection from mobile embedded sensors and applications and creates user context using relevant machine learning algorithms. Algorithms are integrated in the devices for global release in Dec 2014. Defined the architecture and technology components for next generation knowledge assistants with a cross functional team of researchers, designers, business analysts From June 2011 to July 2014 (3 years 2 months) Santa Clara, CAGlobal Strategy Consultant @ IBM Strategy and management consultant in the telecommunications and electronics industry on behalf of IBM. Led and managed 10 start ups within Motorola, 3 of them which were responsible for direct revenue. Internal start ups were based on diffferent technologies including handset applications, new network solutions, location services, voice recognition technologies, intelligent vision and LTE, WiMAX solutions. I was the resident expert on emerging markets and subsequently led the India and Africa Innovation teams. Consulted with Universities on developing their Emerging Markets Business Strategy programs. My successful exits includea) Smart Camera: Led team to build miniaturized cameras with License Plate Recognition algorithms for in embedded in FPGA for public safety markets. Prototypes were used in trials which led to new business opportunities for Government and Public Safety business unitesb)Voice Recognition technology for emerging markets: This ideas came from the Research Labs based in India. Software developed on phone helped in development of local language Speech to Text recognition capabilities for non English speaking users with limited literacy. Users were able to navigate through the phones and speak SMS and play applications. The phones were commercialized in the India marketc) Location Based Services using GPS: Application software on 2G phones designed for kids, used AGPS to estimate location and identify places of interest visited. It helped parents to set up geofences using the application and be alerted when kids crossed the geo fence. This technology was licensed to MVNO for further commercialization. From May 2004 to May 2008 (4 years 1 month) Principal Engineer @ Motorola I worked in the Advanced Technology group within the Networks and Infrastructure organization in Motorola. I have worked on CDMA, GSM and iDEN technologies and architected VoIP systems for an all IP Network. My core competency is in the VoIP protocol SIP.I developed regression models and simulation tools to do performance analysis of the control sub system of the telecommunication network. This included data processing, data modeling, analysis and predictive modeling. Defined busy hour call models, simulated call control messages and processed and analyzed call logs to develop regression models. Used these models to do predictive analysis for new features and applications. The performance impact was than analyzed to architect new features, upgrades and specifications.I developed a data modeling and analysis tool for our EMX switch product for the Japan market. For any new feature release, we first defined a batch of tests based on the customer call model. Log data was collected from the test calls for 24 hours. This data was then analyzed by the tool to determine the capacity and throughput impact on the different processors, boards and sub systems of the switch. The tool was also used to predict performance impact based on a futuristic change in the architecture or call model or redesign of the system. I extended this tool to incorporate the end to end control system for any GSM or CDMA network and analyzed busy hour call data from customer networks to analyze and estimate the load impact on "boxes" or components of the network both in a macro and micro sense. Tool was built to help customers design, extend and plan their network to add more customers or new features.
