Senior Systems Administrator/Project Manager @ From January 2015 to Present (1 year) Enterprise Engineer @ Provide Enterprise data center support for approximately 600 servers across three sites. Perform all triage and break-fix as needed on 24x7 basis. Perform all new system builds including the deployment and configuration of HP Blades as well as standalone systems. Perform Windows SQL Cluster and ESXi installs and maintain build documentation as it pertains to HP blade systems, specifically the c7000 series chassis. Rebuilt, designed and managed Virtual Center Enterprise Management clusters on a per site basis. Provision storage as needed to ESXi and Windows clusters. Provision SAN Storage to Windows and ESXi cluster hosts as required by normal business growth. Monitor performance of HP and Hitachi SANs weekly via SolarWinds Storage Manager and other SAN specific utilities. Maintain and configure all devices to be logged and tracked in Solarwinds Orion as well as HP SIM on a per site basis and utilize the data to help guide hardware refreshes and other system upgrade and maintenance related activities. Work with network engineering teams to install and cable Cisco and other network centric devices. Coordinate with outside vendors and internal clients to install new equipment and coordinate break-fix activities requiring system downtime. Currently instrumental in an all-encompassing data center consolidation project that will bring all Compuware assets into a single data center in Waltham. This includes planning, staging and executing changes as well as directly interfacing with internal groups to scope and determine the best method of migration of their data and upgrading current hardware if applicable. From May 2012 to January 2015 (2 years 9 months) Senior System Administrator @ Provide system administration support for Eagle Investments R&D department consisting of two sites with approximately 500 physical hosts (Windows, Linux and VMware) and over 1000 virtual machines with primary focus in VMware space. Perform maintenance on all hosts for normal day-to-day operations, project management and issue resolution as the need arose. Directly interfaced with developers, research teams and their management to assess and address needs of projects and address problem resolution. Perform hardware troubleshooting to isolate and address equipment failure and engage any needed vendor support to replace failed components. From February 2012 to May 2012 (4 months) Senior Systems Administrator @ Provided system administration support for HVMAs complex and mixed legacy (server 2000) and current (server 2008) server OS environment consisting of 15 main sites and 10 satellite offices and 1500+ physical servers and 2000+ Virtual servers hosted on multiple VMWare 4.x clusters. Review and support Active Directory infrastructure and perform maintenance where needed for replication failures and GPO related issues. Manage multiple server-related projects simultaneously including hardware refresh initiatives, disk space monitoring, VMWare capacity management and performance monitoring, etc.. From November 2011 to February 2012 (4 months) Senior Systems Administrator @ Provide system administration support for 7 CITS lab networks, support wide range of PMO programs and AF network based projects. Duties include configuring/maintaing Sidewinder and BlueCoat firewalls for 5 separate network tiers in standalone and HA configurations as well as Active Directory, GPO and user administration across all 7 CITS lab networks including top level forest administration of all separate domains contained within the broader CITS lab network. Provided support to TC/TO validation teams, ensuring that they have access to all resources necessary for a timely and successful TO validation. Heavy utilization and administration of VMWare ESXi 4.1 and VMWare Lab Manager 4. Create and maintain all pertinent documentation regarding the complexities inherent in a multi-tier network lab environment. Helped design, develop and coordinate projects with Air Force personnel and outside vendors and ensured that whatever project was assigned to me received the proper attention for successful completion. From July 2011 to November 2011 (5 months) Senior Systems Administrator @ Provided support to user base of 100. Duties included server and backup administration, Altiris administration, SAN Administration, Exchange Administration, VMWare administration, Active Directory administration and SQL database administration. Evaluated and executed SQL queries as provided by our development and quality assurance teams, prepared Altiris jobs for new software installs and patch management. Administered 50 ESX 3.5 and 4.0 Clusters that hosted approximately 800 virtual machines – both servers and desktops. Monitored performance issues via SolarWinds and MOM primarily and addressed events as needed. Created templates within VMWare as needed for projects. Instrumental in creating and maintaining ASC’s disaster recover site utilizing VMWare, EMC Replication Manager and RecoverPoint. Racked and stacked numerous stand alone (non-VMware) SQL server clusters as well as other application server implementations as required by business. Configured and administered EMC CLARiiON CX4-480 and CX4-490 and their associated components including Fiber Channel switch administration via Cisco Fabric Manager. Configured and administered SAN clones and snaps via Navisphere and through Replication Manager. Other duties included but were not limited to standard daily performance monitoring via event logs, VIC, Idera SQL monitoring, etc., and tracked and troubleshot any issues that occurred. Addressed user trouble tickets as needed, providing top level support to all involved with trading. Monitored jobs and FTP feeds to ensure no issues arose and addressed any issues that did arise in a timely fashion. From August 2008 to July 2011 (3 years) Sr. IT Support Analyst @ Provided 2nd and 3rd level support to a user-base of approximately 420, including trading floor support of approximately 35 traders. Acted as a mentor to junior techs and helped them manage difficult issues to resolve problem tickets effectively. Manageed tickets on a day-to-day basis via Altiris and ensured that all end-user requests were addressed in a timely fashion. Managed several key projects for GMO including a complete overhaul of the Fixed Income Trader group into a “pc-less desktop”. This entailed research and evaluation of many contending products, from thin clients from Wyse and HP to blade solutions from Dell and HP, to ultimately an external video card solution as provided by Matrox. Included with this project was a great deal of vendor management and intense testing as the requirements for the traders were quite rigid and the timeline quite aggressive. Successfully completed the project in early June of 08 with a completely smooth transition from the user’s old desktops to the new with zero downtime. Managed GMOs DR site in Bedford MA from a desktop perspective, re-vamped and implemented new desktop imaging methods via Altiris, and software packaging via Wise Package Studio, implemented Wake on Lan for all desktops, upgraded all SAV clients for entire GMO infrastructure. From August 2007 to August 2008 (1 year 1 month) Senior Systems Engineer/Partner @ Provided comprehensive technical support to a growing user base of 25 small to medium sized businesses covering all aspects of desktop/server support, application related questions, telecom issues, migrations, hardware management, etc. Established and actively managed strategic partnerships with IBM, HP, Dell, Gateway, Symantec, Sonicwall, Watchguard, etc., and acted as a liaison for our client base on all related issues pertaining to break-fix, upgrades or general support questions. Managed a small team of 2 FTE and any subsequent contract/third party vendor hires as required by whatever client project was at hand. Led many projects for Fidelity, from simple one-off server migrations to entire enterprise wide migrations of desktops from windows NT/2000 to Windows XP. Primarily worked with Compaq and HP servers desktops and backup devices. Supported traders, executives and general user populace in varying capacities including trade floor support, support of executive’s home networks with regard to VPN issues connecting back into Fidelity as well as normal day to day support. Created and maintained desktop and server images and implemented via SMS and Ghost. Provided BES support for entire Fidelity Blackberry infrastructure. Supported numerous off-site and out of state and at times international clients and interfaced with their support teams to ensure project deliverables were met in a timely fashion. Participated in many "all hands on deck" events including virus events, system-wide Netware or AD issues, server issues, and other unforeseen outage events. While my primary responsibility was call handling, I also maintained and published internal lists/guides of printer compatibilities and guidelines on DOS upper memory management while keeping call times at or under 5-7 minutes. Ultimately moved over to Stream direct client support team specializing in network operating system support and handled calls regarding Windows For Workgroups, OS/2 and Novell Netware while continuing to maintain a low call-time as required by management. Also answered questions mailed to the company and helped QA new versions of Spinnaker products as well as other emerging titles. Was sent to the UK for 4 months and single-handedly manned the Spinnaker Europe help desk and Sales endeavors there while Spinnaker sought an appropriate reseller to take over these duties.
