Gregory Sorensen M.D., is president and chief executive officer of Siemens Healthcare North America.
Dr. Sorensen is a board-certified neuroradiologist, a former full professor at Harvard Medical School with additional appointments at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Oxford University, and an accomplished physician-scientist. Since 2011 he has led the North American operations for Siemens Healthcare, the world’s largest provider of hospital infrastructure including active businesses in diagnostic imaging, in-vitro diagnostics, and healthcare IT. He has guided the organization during one of healthcare’s most turbulent periods of transformation.
While his scientific career focused on developing new imaging methods to understand cancer of the brain, stroke, and migraine; since moving to the business arena he has focused on organizational continuous improvement, high ethical and performance standards, and bringing technologies and solutions to improve outcomes while lowering costs across a range of healthcare settings.
A sought-after speaker on both scientific and market-focused topics, he is also active in national and global policy making, including serving as a member of the Scientific Council of the National Institutes of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, as past Chairman of the Board of the Medical Imaging Technology Alliance, and he is currently on the Executive Committee of National Electrical Manufacturers Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Research!America.

I was privileged to co-lead the center during the years of some of its greatest growth in size and scope, and participated with many physicians and scientists in contributing to human health by expanding our knowledge of numerous biomedical challenges. I was awarded multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health, was inventor or co-inventor on 10 patents, and found tremendous satisfaction in teaching, patient care, and research as well as administering a large laboratory.
