Sales & Commercial Management @ From June 2014 to Present (1 year 7 months) London, United KingdomAdmin and merchandising @ Taking on this role was a very big change in my working career, as the management team put a lot of trust in me when I showed no previous experience of the skills required. This role taught me so much and really boosted my confidence to take on large responsibility. I was able to assist in all aspects of the running of the store and most importantly, making sure that all money was accounted for.
The role was very challenging, but I thrived on this which meant that I very much enjoyed my time at Comet, and had a great team of people to work with.
My main role was to be in charge of maintaining the cash office and to be aware of problems relating to payments and paperwork. This included daily banking and reporting for the head office of the company, credit control, management of the store float and also to find a solution for any discrepancies regarding payments from customers.
My next task after managing the cash office was to maintain the merchandising of the store. This involved liaising with the team at head office and following plans to implement in the store.
As my main duties were more admin related, it was rare that I would cover customer service or sales, but when it was required, I was always happy to support the sales team and to aim towards the targets which they have to hit on a daily basis. The main times when I was in a customer facing situation was to work on the customer service desk, dealing with returns and repairs, and general questions regarding purchases and orders. As a member of the admin team, I had authority to process returns, which could sometimes prove challenging when faced with angry customers, and also having to follow the guidelines for particular product regarding returns and faults. this aspect of the job helped me improve my customer service skills, which then boosted my confidence in dealing with difficult situations.
