From October 2018 to November 2019 (1 year 2 months) San FranciscoVP of FP&A @ Genesys • Head of FP&A overseeing Premise, Cloud and M&A FP&A teams that lead the Revenue, COGS, OPEX, CAPEX, M&A and Cash forecasting. This included training analysts in Excel, PowerPoint, data structures, financial analysis, and communication in order to leverage the FP&A team’s Analysis in Operational Review Discussions. This involved both creating the model and training the sales organization on how their inputs drove the model and how and where the model clearly identified the levers driving profitability for each proposal.• Partnered with HR in the creation of a Bonus Program that aligned UpWind Solutions' goals with the funding of the bonus program, including identifying the best three metrics, targets, and compensation weights and ranges, as well as building presentation material for the CEO. From September 2012 to September 2013 (1 year 1 month) Greater San Diego AreaFP&A Lead @ Sonos, Inc. • First FP&A dedicated hire at Sonos. Built partnerships across the entire company that served as the foundation for Sonos’ financial and operational metrics views that facilitate the Operational Review Discussions. This included building scalable data and systems and aligning processes that served as the foundation that allowed FP&A to scale with minimal investment as Sonos grew from $50+MM to over $300+MM during my tenure.• Responsible for Sonos’ Revenue, COGS, OPEX, CAPEX and Cash forecasting. This involved mentoring the Supply and Demand teams on how to implement a better set of analytical frameworks to improve forecasting of Inventory, providing leadership to IT by leveraging my strong data architecture, systems, and process background to streamline the reporting and forecasting process, and educating budget managers on the accounting treatment of expenses.• Led the build-out of an inventory of metrics and analytical frameworks to support quick and meaningful Ad-hoc reporting and defined standard reporting that drives complex and simplified models that are used in short- and long-term planning. These reports and analytical packages have been presented to the CFO, investors, and Board of Directors. From July 2010 to September 2012 (2 years 3 months) Santa Barbara, California AreaCorporate FP&A Manager @ EBAY • Worked across eBay’s three core businesses, Treasury, Tax, IT, and Accounting organizations in order to accurately consolidate and analyze the entire company’s financial and operational metrics. These metrics are used to build forecasts, budgets, and long-term outlooks. The process included synthesizing financial and operational information to build PowerPoint presentations for several groups, including the CFO, Board of Directors, and external reporting groups.• Created top down and bottom up detailed Excel/Visual Basic base models for guidance, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning. These models captured the different business and Financial Statement dependencies in order to provide a wide range of accurate and in-depth Scenario Analyses for different internal business levers as well as external levers such as interest rates and FX implications. These models improved data quality, streamlined existing reporting needs, and bridged reporting needs across internal and external reporting as well as GAAP and Non-GAAP reporting. • Managed the creation of a bi-quarterly set of reports that provided a deep dive on business metrics, revenue streams, expenses, FX impact, as well as Corporate Items and below the line.• Managed development of Corporate Bonus Financial Metrics. This included presentations given to the Board for approval, forecasting Bonus impact, and the administration of Bonus accruals which included meeting with external and internal auditors to ensure proper accounting treatment of the $100+ MM a year accrual. From August 2007 to July 2010 (3 years) San Jose, CAGlobal Consulting and Education Controller @ BEA Systems • Developed worldwide pricing and discounting policies and strategies together with Senior Management team. This included developing standardized financial models and thresholds for all offerings, centralizing price books, standardizing offerings, and placing worldwide controls and processes around new centralized price books in order to ensure execution of the new global strategies and alignment with VSOE Policies. • Developed and implemented new executive dashboards that included actionable metrics that better reflected the nature of the current business and accommodated the current system capabilities while improving data quality and increasing depth on metrics. This included working with both Worldwide Consulting and Worldwide Education on gathering requirements, gaining approval for standardized metrics and reports across each organization, and building a Visual Basic base Excel reporting application for each worldwide organization.• Implemented new processes across Worldwide Services Finance organization and built several Visual Basic base Excel applications to improve data quality and streamline existing accounting and financial reporting needs. • Served as the Global Controller for the Consulting ($150+MM Revenue a year) and the Education ($30+MM Revenue a year) divisions. This included managing quarter-end close across both divisions and three geographies, ensuring reconciliation of revenue databases and general ledger, cost/margin analysis, ensuring contracts followed VSOE requirements, meeting with auditors to ensure GAAP compliance, and signing off on Divisional books.
