Sr. Director of Engineering @ Part of the core Platform and Infrastructure organization working on building reliable distributed systems From April 2015 to Present (9 months) Greater Seattle AreaPresident and co-founder @ I love working on projects where I can make a direct positive impact on people's lives. To this end I co-founded a non-profit One Good Act which serves to empower citizens in developing parts of the world by providing the skills, tools and services to enable them to beat the cycle of poverty and become active and participating citizens of the community. I primarily work with partners working at the grassroots level with a proven record of successfully operating self-sustaining programs. The focus is largely on funding vocational training programs, primary education, basic immunizations and maternal health and a monthly ration program. From January 2007 to Present (9 years) Greater Seattle AreaDirector of Engineering, Shipping Science @ I work with very large data sets to build machine learnt models to improve ship time and ship cost estimates for eBay marketplace buyers and sellers. In this role I have managed multiple teams including cross border trade and logistics for eBay marketplace with a special focus on integrating with 3rd parties to enable the Asia Pacific corridor. From September 2013 to April 2015 (1 year 8 months) Greater Seattle AreaSr. Engineering Manager, Shipping & Logistics, Billing & Shipping QA @ I managed the teams responsible for building the eBay core shipping carrier integration platform, shipping and labels specific applications on top of the platform. The platform's goal was to be carrier and marketplace agnostic to enable rapid onboarding of new carriers serving multiple corridors. This involved designing and building a massively distributed and highly scalable system to manage the daily transaction volumes at eBay. I hired and managed both development and testing teams in this role From November 2011 to June 2013 (1 year 8 months) Senior Software Engineer Lead, Bing Search @ I worked across Bing Search in several key areas the most recent of which was on the query rewriting team using alteration aware ranking to improve relevance and quality for ranker unfriendly segments, using user feedback and behavior for improved learning. I worked on whole page relevance to create task based targeted search experiences. I worked on deep vertical experiences in the entertainment, realtime and news domains to develop deeper and richer experiences for search in these verticals. One such vertical was news where I worked on the entire search stack (crawling, indexing, serving and user experience for browsing). I was also responsible for setting test strategy and vision across multiple teams, developing people and technically leading these areas. From May 2007 to October 2011 (4 years 6 months) Software Engineer, Engineering Excellence @ I worked on a team that built productivity and quality control tools for developers internally to help them ship high quality software. I also worked on products to enable shared development by providing an open and extensible low touch infrastructure for sharing code, best practices, automated builds and tests. This team was built from scratch and I wore many hats: defining product, working on core features, setting up infrastructure for automating builds and running tests against these builds, creating a test harness and automation for the product, end-to-end product life cycle ownership, release management, operations and live site. From July 2005 to May 2007 (1 year 11 months) Software Engineer Intern @ I worked as a developer on the terminal emulation suite of products (EXTRA, InfoConnect). I was also part of the install core team for creating MSIs and developing tools to validate setup scenarios. From January 2005 to May 2005 (5 months) Software Engineer Intern @ I worked as a consultant building custom applications for multiple clients. I also trained to develop customizations on the NetSuite box product for our clients using NetSuite. Met with clients to gather system requirements, work on system design and debug issues in realtime From January 2004 to December 2004 (1 year)
