I'm a software designer and engineer, skilled in modern web programming and video game development. I'm highly self-motivated, driven, and have a proven ability to finish what I start. I have a background in music and audio engineering with a keen interest in video game culture and new ways of playing.
Software Engineer @ From February 2014 to Present (1 year 9 months) Game Developer @ During the development of our iOS game Heads Up! Hot Dogs, my partner Diego Garcia and I formed Sugoi Papa Interactive to manage our future game development projects. We've built two games together and there are lots more on the horizon.
I handle all software development responsibilities on our projects. This includes designing game engines, coordinating design and content-creation work with Diego, and thinking creatively to solve new problems that arise in game programming. I spend a lot of effort imagining how to make Diego's ideas into reality, which provides a steady stream of new and interesting challenges. I coordinate with other software designers to improve the usability and functionality of the VImeo codebase. I also implement tooling for offline and/or internal use.
Past and present responsibilities include
Designing, implementing, testing, and collaborating on the development of realtime display interfaces for the web app
Implementing, bugfixing, and supporting features and tooling for the Vimeo video player, including server and client enhancements
Inheriting and enhancing a design, implementing, testing, bugfixing, and deploying an internal monitoring tool (a server frontend on top of statsd), designed for interface simplicity
Designing and implementing a pipeline for automatic generation of API documentation
Designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining the python library for Vimeo's API 3.0
Collaborating on the design and implementation of the REST API, including the construction of many resource groups
Bugfixing on the PHP web app as it relates to the Vimeo video player From May 2013 to December 2013 (8 months) NYCFull Stack Developer @ My responsibilities span Parsely's full stack, allowing me to leverage my skills in python, javascript, and web infrastructure to build analytics products for online content producers. My focus is primarily on app development and semantic web standards, but I move around and provide expertise wherever necessary. Projects I've worked on at Parsely include
http://schema.to , a unified validator for semantic web standards written in python
Refactoring and large-scale improvements of python web-crawling infrastructure
Numerous custom web scrapers for client sites
Built first public version of the Parsely website
An API providing on-demand entity extraction using python/nltk
