Services currently offered include: - Strategic planning and evaluation - International market research - Qualitative analysis - Workshop facilitation - Leadership training ABN 77 311 757 139 From May 2013 to Present (2 years 8 months) Senior Research Analyst, Strategy & Investment, Farm Services Victoria @ Responsibilities - Led the development and delivery of environmental scanning and analysis products for the Farm Services Victoria division. - Assisted the Manager Analysis and Strategy to develop and coordinate implementation of FSV strategy and provide authoritative advice to senior management on key strategic issues. Achievements - Initiated DPI’s membership in the Australasian Joint Agencies Scanning Network (AJASN), which provides access to State and Federal government networks and knowledge sharing. AJASN shares an environmental scanning database, meets quarterly, and collaboratively produces quarterly and annual reports for input into policy and strategy development. - Secured funding for an innovation project to scope the feasibility of establishing an agriculture alumni for past DPI staff. This resulted in a robust business case to be implemented as part of future knowledge retention plans. - Led a knowledge management (process improvement) project which resulted in a draft knowledge management action plan for the division. From November 2010 to April 2013 (2 years 6 months) Melbourne, AustraliaSenior Project Officer, Agribusiness Group @ Responsibilities - Assessed the feasibility of a DPI Food Export Strategy, exploring different types of possible strategies within a government context. Achievements - Recommended that the Agribusiness Group pursue a broadly-defined ‘market access’ approach to market development rather than an ‘export strategy’. This changed the focus of the team’s work and the way the group was perceived internally. From October 2006 to May 2007 (8 months) Melbourne, AustraliaManager, Strategic Market Analysis, Agribusiness Group @ Responsibilities - Developed and managed the Department’s newly established Strategic Market Analysis (SMA) sub-project and associated resources. - The SMA team worked closely with the International Market Development and Regional Agribusiness Development teams. Achievements - Within one year, doubled the capacity of the team from three staff members to six, and secured further internal funding for additional project work. From August 2004 to September 2005 (1 year 2 months) Melbourne, AustraliaFood Industry Project Manager, Agribusiness Group @ Responsibilities - Managed a large project titled “Beyond price & quality: Understanding credence attributes of food products in Victoria’s priority markets”. This involved the identification of priority markets for Victorian food products and the assessment of emerging demand for food with ‘credence’ attributes. Achievements - Coordinated secondary and primary research, including 180 interviews with food industry stakeholders in 20 countries over a period of 6 months. With a relatively small budget, utilising existing networks, these interviews were conducted by myself and other DPI staff, and external consultants, including Austrade. - Results were analysed for, and presented to, multiple stakeholders within the Government (State and Federal) and in industry. The level of engagement with stakeholders exceeded expectations, particularly with industry and public including radio and print media. From November 2003 to August 2004 (10 months) Melbourne, AustraliaFood Industry Analyst, Agribusiness Group @ Responsibilities - A varied role that involved the provision of data and analysis (to, predominantly, internal clients), which played a critical role in informing strategic investment decisions within the Department. Achievements - Prepared a number of papers for presentation at national and international conferences, and publication in international journals. - Prepared reports, and provided input into internal and external projects and papers, involving supply chain, industry clusters and international retailing. - Established and maintained new networks with key staff in relevant Federal Government departments. - Secured funding to manage a series of successful ‘supply chain’ workshops across regional Victoria which resulted in an increased awareness of supply chain principles. From September 2002 to November 2003 (1 year 3 months) Melbourne, AustraliaProject Officer, Agribusiness Group @ Responsibilities - Assisted an industry-lead group, the Australian Fresh Food Alliance (AFFA), to conduct “Project Alpha” that was established to promote the sustainable development of food export capability in South Eastern Australia. - Specific tasks included the compilation of statistics and the preparation of reports relating to Australia’s key export markets. Achievements - Identified synergies between Project Alpha and DNRE’s own food export and resource management initiatives. - Played a key role in assisting the development of interstate linkages and alliances, by bringing relevant experts together in two interstate workshops and maintaining the dialogue between organisations. From February 2002 to September 2002 (8 months) Melbourne, AustraliaExport Co-ordinator @ Co-ordinated the sales, procurement, documentation and logistics for the export of a large range of food products from Australia to 5 star hotels and resorts throughout the Asian region.
