Donovan joined Mars, Inc, in February 2010 and is currently the Head of People & Organization (Human Resources) for Mars Retail Group globally (Mars DTC businesses), based in the greater New York City area, with stores in major tourist cities around the world, including New York City, Vegas, Orlando, London and Shanghai and through our e-commerce business, www.mymms.com.
Prior to this role, Donovan was a Sr. Director of People & Organization, responsible for all field based human resources, associate relations, and "P&O Co-Piloting" (HR Business Partnering) at Banfield Pet Hospital (a division of Mars Petcare), based in the Portland, Oregon area with 15,000 associates in the United States.
Before joining Mars, Donovan worked for consumer goods manufacturer, Nautilus, Inc, as the Director of Human Resources, responsible for Associate Relations, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management globally.
Prior to Nautilus, Donovan spent a decade with Fortune 500 retailer, Borders, Inc, where he was responsible for all Human Resources for the West Coast Region.
Donovan received his Bachelor's in Human Resources Management from George Fox University in Newberg, OR and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with HRCI and Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) with the Society of Human Resources Management.

From February 2010 to January 2013 (3 years) Portland, Oregon AreaDirector of Human Resources @ Globally responsible for all talent acquisition, associate relations, leadership training and organizational development/talent management, including overseeing the HR Business Partner team at Nautilus World Headquarters as well as our field based HR teams in the manufacturing plants and international locations, including Portland, Virginia, Tulsa, China and Germany. From October 2005 to February 2010 (4 years 5 months) Regional Human Resources Manager (Sr. HR Business Partner) @ I was part of the regional leadership team and a strategic Senior HR Business Partner to field operations and the corporate office. I directed and was accountable for all facets of human resources in a large geographic region. In this role I supported 104 stores in eleven western States with 3,000+ employees. Partnering with the divisional and regional vice-presidents and field leadership, I was responsible for driving engagement, talent acquisition, associate relations and grievance investigations, labor relations training/avoidance, compensation issues, leadership training & development, and performance management. In our region I oversaw the Management Skills Training week and our diversity programs. From September 2000 to October 2005 (5 years 2 months) Portland, Oregon AreaGeneral Manager @ I had full P&L and General Management responsibility for this "big-box" retail store. The store was 24,000 SF and included a music store, café and special events area. Our team included 50+ highly engaged associates, including six Managers, an Area Marketing Manager and several Supervisors and Leads. From September 1998 to September 2000 (2 years 1 month) Salem, OregonStore Manager / Regional Field Trainer @ My duties were two-fold. First, I was the Store Manager of two different Borders Express / Waldenbooks stores over this this period. Second, I was a Regional Field Trainer, responsible for training all new Store Managers in the Pacific Northwest region in operational skills training. This included presenting leadership modules at our quarterly Management Skills Training (MST) and also training individuals or small groups in operational field training in my store.
In addition to the above I managed an annual inline Day-by-Day Calendar Co. store in the mall from September to January each year and was the Autographing Coordinator for our district - responsible for organizing and managing book signings with local and national authors that came through Oregon/Washington.
