Before co-founding the Assurex Health team, Don was co-founder and CTO of SaaS Capital, a specialty finance company serving the SaaS (Software as a Solution) enterprise software application market. He has also served as Vice President of Global Product Development at Attachmate Corporation, directing a product development team of over 500 people worldwide that served over 65,000 customers and accounts in nearly all the Global 10,000 enterprises. Don has previously held positions as Vice President and CTO for Spotlight Solutions and Vice President and CIO for Domin-8 Enterprise Solutions.

The company was originally founded to commercialize industry-leading personalized medicine technology developed by Assurex Health based on technology licensed from Mayo Clinic and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Through its partnership with DH Capital, SaaS Capital can also assist with a variety of M&A and capital raising advisory services.
Designed, developed and oversaw all technical components of the SaaS Capital offerings including certification and technical underwriting processes. Included the development of a comprehensive and first of its kind monitoring system to examine usage of client applications as well as uptime and performance. Researched over 400 SaaS based software companies to evaluate and recommend improvements to development processes, security procedures, product architectures and customer support operations in addition to various financial metrics.
Developed and managed the rollout and partnerships associated with the SaaS Capital Assurance product to assist customers in vendor viability discussions with their clients. This product offering guaranteed that if the SaaS vendor were to become insolvent, SaaS Capital ensure that the application and related services would remain operational for up to six months to allow their customers time for a seamless transition. From 2007 to July 2008 (1 year) Chief Information Officer & Vice President, Products @ Domin-8 Enterprise Solutions was the leading provider of enterprise applications and integrated business solutions for the residential property management industry. Domin-8 also delivered a suite of integrated services including background screening, renters insurance, resident services activation, and electronic payments all delivered through the integrated software platform. During these three years the company grew from less than fifty thousand units under management to well over six million.
Responsible for the Domin-8 product line and internal systems including product management, product development, quality assurance, MIS, IT and hosting operations. Led compliance and security operations including certification process and ongoing oversight of SAS-70, Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Equifax. Development operations was primarily located in the Mason, Ohio headquarters with smaller groups in Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan, Washington and Texas. Assisted in the acquisition of five competitors. Chairman of the Executive Product Steering Committee. From 2004 to 2007 (3 years) Vice President, Product Development @ Participated in the merger of Spotlight Solutions with Profitlogic and remained there for 9 months to assist with the transition. During that time built the Indian development operations, oversaw the reorganization of the U.S. development operations and led the team that redesigned the user experience of product line. The combined company was later sold to Oracle. From 2003 to 2004 (1 year) Greater Boston AreaChief Technology Officer & Vice President, Products @ Spotlight Solutions merged with ProfitLogic in 2004.
Spotlight Solutions was a leading provider of pricing and revenue optimization software solutions for the retail industry. Spotlight’s software suite enabled retailers to make more intelligent pre-season and in-season pricing decisions on fashion and seasonal merchandise. Responsibilities included leading all aspects of the Spotlight product line including product management, product development, quality assurance, customer support and integration consulting groups. Led the Product Steering Committee. Assisted in selling the company in late 2003. The merged company was later acquired by Oracle. From 2001 to 2004 (3 years) Vice President, Global Product Development @ For over 30 years, Attachmate has been delivering essential business information to the right users, in the right formats, via the right devices. Today, Attachmate software runs on 19 million desktops and mobile devices—across industries ranging from financial services, healthcare, and government to retail, travel, and manufacturing. Held various positions culminating in leading global product development responsible for all product management, project management, development, quality assurance, technical publications and customer support at all Attachmate development sites including Seattle, Bellingham, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Palo Alto, Vancouver and London. Led multiple development teams totaling more than 500 directors, managers, software engineers, product managers, project managers, program managers, test engineers, technical writers and IT personnel. Product lines included enterprise software solutions in mission critical situations such as 911 Call Centers, Airport and Airline Operations, Financial Institutions, Military, and Nuclear Power Plant Operations. From 1989 to 2001 (12 years) Greater Seattle AreaVice President, Product Development @ Digital Communications Associates (DCA) merged with Attachmate Corporation in 1993.
Founded in the late 1970’s, DCA was the first to introduce a statistical multiplexer for connectivity to IBM mainframes. In February 1983 DCA went public and a few months later acquired Technical Analysis Corporation that had a hot product named IRMA that enabled IBM personal computers to connect to IBM mainframe computers. By the late 1980’s DCA had become the largest provider of hardware and software solutions for connectivity to IBM mainframes.
In 1992 DCA acquired Intercomputer Communications Corporation (ICC) the leading provider of connectivity for the Unisys market as well as the first company to provide connectivity to corporate networks over a modem. The combined company then merged with Attachmate Corporation in 1993 and became the largest privately held software company in the U.S. at the time. From 1992 to 1993 (1 year) Greater Atlanta AreaDirector, Product Development @ Intercomputer Communications Corp. (ICC) merged with Digital Communications Associates (DCA) in 1992.
ICC was the leading provider of connectivity for the Unisys market as well as the first company to provide remote connectivity to corporate networks over a modem. ICC merged with DCA in 1992 and the combined company then merged with Attachmate Corporation and became the largest privately held software company in the U.S. at the time. From 1989 to 1992 (3 years) Cincinnati AreaTechnology Integration Manager @ Integrated technologies from AT&T Bell Laboratories into various divisions of AT&T Communications.
