Editor, TechRadar Pro @ I am responsible for developing and commissioning long-term content strategy, grow the team of freelancers, lead it, secure content partnerships within the industry, develop our own tone of voice and work with the commercial team to help initiate and deliver commercial campaigns. Amongst other things. From October 2013 to Present (2 years 3 months) Editor @ I grew ITProPortal from thousands of visitors to more than a million unique visitors a month over nearly eight years. I have produced more than 10,000 articles in the process.
I achieved all this through a combination of rigorous processes put in place and outsourcing, while keeping a tight grip on costs thanks to a low head count and laser-focusing on ROI.
My day-to-day tasks included
Attend a number of global/international/local events both vendor-neutral and vendor-focused (MWC, IFA, CeBIT, CES, Computex, Acer, HP etc).
Continually work with the MD on the editorial “vision”, translating long term strategy into something palatable, palpable and adhering to SMART objectives.
Working with sales on how editorial can work closer to deliver adhoc projects more effectively. This includes advising sales on any opportunities, informing them of meetings with potential clients and leads.
Working with Adops on how to improve processes with regards to monetisation of the site. Work with sales and adops to help monetise and commercialise ITProPortal as a product, maximise revenue by striking direct deals and 3rd party partners.
Define, manage and execute a clear publishing strategy from editorial direction, best practices and policies through to commercialisation of our products.
Engineer content partnerships and assist in further building the portfolio of freelance writers.
Monitor the competition and the market, identify trends and take action (content-wise or feature-wise)
Handled sourcing, planning and executing contras.
Identify potential partners & draw hit-list of third party collaborators, organised competitions, sourced registration incentives and competitions.
