Hi! My name is DeeDee. I'm a student studying Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, and I am looking for a summer internship in the tech industry. I particularly love computer science because it explores novel, practical, efficient ways to solve problems. It is a beautiful mix of math and art. It is as challenging and pure as math, but as open to interpretation and malleable as art. It requires dedication and logic to blossom into something practical. It has applications in every scientific field and the potential to change the world. I want to be part of that revolution.
Teaching Assistant @ I work as a teaching assistant for 15-122 Principles of Imperative Computation. This course teaches students core data structures and algorithms, as well as the importance of proving code works.
I lead lab sections every week, where I assist students with an assignment related to what they've been learning in class. I also hold office hours every week, where I help students with questions about homework and general course material. From September 2015 to Present (4 months) Research Assistant @ I am working on building a point cloud model for objects using Kinect, Point Cloud Library, and Robot Operating System. The idea is to create a point cloud model for a specific object and discard the points of the surroundings so a robot using the Kinect could pick out the object from the surroundings quickly and easily. Ideally, the robot could do this no matter how the object is oriented or where the object is in relation to it.
I am writing an algorithm to filter the point cloud and track the position of an object in real time in C++. In addition, I am analyzing and testing the speed and accuracy of that algorithm to make sure that a robot could use it to track the object in real-time. From October 2014 to Present (1 year 3 months) Research Intern @ Designed DNA primers and performed polymerase chain reactions and gel electrophoresis to amplify bacterial DNA of a new species that causes leprosy
Rotated through the seven different departments within the School of Health Professions, learning about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer From June 2013 to August 2013 (3 months)
Bachelor of Science (BS), Computer Science @ Carnegie Mellon University From 2014 to 2018 Bellaire Senior High School From 2010 to 2014 DeeDee H. is skilled in: LaTeX, C, PCL, ROS, C++, Java, Data Structures
