I qualified as a general nurse in 1991 and then obtained a further degree to qualify as a specialist occupational health nurse practitioner in 1999. Since then I have worked in OH departments for large organisations for the past 12 years (The Railways, Bupa, GlaxoSmithKline). Having been made redundant in 2009 I decided to set up my own company to be able to use my knowledge and skills to help smaller businesses that did not have access to occupational health advice. I realised that I could make a difference to both managers and employees of smaller companies by being able to provide high quality, reliable ad-hoc advice at the specific time they needed it. I have built up a large client-base over the past few years, mainly in Hertfordshire and North London. Although specialising in the pharmaceutical industry, I have vast experience and knowledge of many other industries. I enjoy working for smaller organisations and feel I understand the complex needs and demands of a small business and the significant impact that ill-health and absence can make on them. I aim to provide practical useful advice that managers can rely on when having to make difficult business decisions, whilst effectively balancing the needs of the employer and employee. My particular interests and expertise lie in the needs of smaller businesses, proactive case management of long-term complex sickness absence and managing stress in the workplace. I have gained transferable business skills through completing the first year of an MBA and 3 years of running my own business.
