From September 1996 to Present (19 years 4 months) Greater Los Angeles AreaProduct Line Manager/VAR Sales Manager @ Worked at Proxima in the Summer of 1992, and then joined full-time in September, 1993. Started out as the Product Line Manager, in collaboration with Jerry Hansen, for the introduction of Proxima's first all-in-one LCD projector, the DP2800. It was a 23 pound, VGA (640 x 480) resolution, video-capable, active-matrix LCD projector with speakers included, and it produced a whopping 110 ANSI lumens, or what we thought at the time was "bright enough to leave the lights on." It was such a sucess that the product doubled the sales of Proxima from $65MM to $130MM and Proxima was named the "hottest over the counter stock" that year by BusinessWeek Magazine.
After 18 months in Product Line management, I joined the Sales department as the North American VAR Sales Manager, and then served as the Distribution Sales Manager prior to leaving to start CCS California with my wife, Gina, and my brother, Robert. From June 1992 to September 1996 (4 years 4 months) Greater San Diego AreaFinancial Analyst @ As a Financial Analyst with Salomon Brothers Venture Capital in New York, I assisted Managing Directors with the evaluation of prospective investments by reading business plans, analyzing financials, researching management teams, competition and technical areas, and working to attract deals to our group.
I also assisted portfolio companies with specific projects, such as creating a distribution plan for Proxima Corporation as they expanded their presence in the VAR channel. As part of this and other analytical work, I had the pleasure of interfacing directly with company C-level management personnel.
Frankly, this was a wonderful work experience as I met and worked with some of the brightest people I have ever known. My greatest teacher, and continued mentor to this day, is John Cassis, currently the Managing Principal with Cross Atlantic Partners and a member of numerous boards of directors.
Sadly, I worked in Seven World Trade Center, which was the third building to collapse on 9/11. From 1988 to 1991 (3 years) Greater New York City Area
