David Lucchino is the CEO of Entrega Bio, a biotechnology company co-founded by Robert S. Langer, Sc.D and PureTech Ventures, on an interim basis. Entrega is tackling an unmet clinical need: needle-free drug delivery. Its game-changing technology seeks to deliver large molecule drugs - those usually requiring I.V. injections - orally, through an innovative capsule. The company has teamed up with Google to deliver a magnetic nanoparticle that would travel through the bloodstream searching for early signs of cancer. David also holds an Entrepreneur-in-Residence position at PureTech Ventures, which recently closed on a $107M investment round led by Invesco.
Previously, David co-founded and served as CEO of Kendall Square-based Semprus BioSciences until its acquisition by Teleflex Incorporated. Under his stewardship, David grew Semprus to 50 employees, secured $28.5M in venture capital financing and $8.4M in federal funding, and received FDA and CE Mark approval for its first product. He was a senior executive at Polaris Venture Partners, a $3B venture capital fund based in Boston, and co-founded LaunchCyte, an investment firm specializing in biomedical intellectual property.
He is a trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee of Mt. Auburn Hospital, a Harvard Medical School facility; an Executive Committee member of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council; a trustee at Babson College and a board member of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. He serves on the boards of Lipella Pharmaceuticals and Frequency Therapeutics, and is an Entrepreneur-in Residence at the University of Massachusetts Venture Development Center.
David career began as a technology marketing executive after earning an M.B.A at MIT's Sloan School of Management, an M.S from Syracuse University and a B.A. from Denison University. He has received numerous honors and awards, is a sought-after guest lecturer, and actively participates with community service and charitable organizations.
