Daniel is a Software Engineer with a passion for exploring new and exciting technologies. Recently, he has been focused on BigData and Machine Learning / Predictive Analytics projects that managed 1 Billion events a day in realtime, and mobile projects that generated over 15 Billion events a day. Through these projects, Daniel has had great exposure and gained experience building scalable architectures that are data and event driven. Constantly refining his craft, Daniel enjoys learning and sharing knowledge and looks for new challenges everyday.
Founder / Engineer @ From November 2015 to Present (2 months) Toronto, Canada AreaSenior Software Engineer @ Working on the Tools / Engine team, where we focus on scaling and delivery of asset content, rendering engines for 3D and 2D graphics, and more. From April 2015 to Present (9 months) Lead Predictive Analytics Architect @ Leonardo was an incredible experience. Not only did I have a complex problem to solve, I had to do it without interrupting any of the legacy and new technologies being developed in parallel. I was able to position my solution as an interceptor in the network that allowed for manipulation of data in realtime, undetected. As users engaged the different mediums Leonardo provided, data was being studied and shifted to provide a more rich experience.
In this role, I primarily worked with Node.js, Redis, and Neo4j. From November 2013 to November 2014 (1 year 1 month) Toronto, Canada AreaMobile Software Engineer - iOS SDK @ Where do I begin with Upsight. A complete pleasure to work with; the Upsight Team was open to new ideas and had a lot of insight. A leader in mobile analytics, I was entrusted to maintain and develop their flagship product, an iOS SDK for analytics. The main challenge was providing an SDK that can fit in any application architecture and not disrupt performance. Continuously working on threading models, architectural flows of data in and out of the mobile device was fun and a complete growth experience. From May 2013 to June 2014 (1 year 2 months) Senior Platform and Mobile Engineer @ One of the most exciting and fulfilling experiences of my life. I was one of the first 20 employees at Wattpad. Rather than fixating on a single role, I was enjoyably a swiss army knife, learning and contributing to all areas of the company. There were many challenges from mobile-web, back-end application architecture, and server scalability. I am glad to see Wattpad climbing to the top and humbled to be a part of that family. From October 2012 to April 2013 (7 months) Toronto, Canada AreaLead Machine Learning Architect @ Manwin, without a doubt was the foundation of my career. No challenge was too large with this power house. My first project was to build a realtime machine learning platform that managed 1 Billion events a day from over 100 concurrent sources. I was new to the field of machine learning and predictive analytics, and fell in-love right away. Proudly, when I left, the platform was able to provide learned data and recommendations within 6 milliseconds of receiving an event. From August 2011 to July 2012 (1 year) Montreal, Canada Area
