STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy middle school students in both
classroom and field locations during the academic year as well as summer.
Under the umbrella of STEM, the SEA program consists of marine science,
adventure sports and sailing lessons where classroom preparation leads to a real life field experience.
Through transdisciplinary STEM lessons, the extended learning program will accelerate students' academic engagement and acquisition of math and literacy knowledge and skills. In this approach, concepts and skills are developed through real life context, real life experiences, and organized around student questions. Classroom/field topics may include: Biomimicry & Engineering, Marine Debris, Kayak Your Watershed, Local Invertebrates, Deep Sea Energy Cycles, Wind Power, ROVs, Water Quality, Plankton, and the US Sailing REACH STEM Modules. Through the extended learning program, students will develop skills that lead to college & career readiness in mathematics and English language arts and literacy across all content areas. Students will develop skills in concepts and procedures, problem solving, and communicate reasoning through clearly and precisely constructed arguments. During these unique STEM experiences, students will be able to use data analysis and modeling to analyze complex, real-world scenarios and use mathematical models to interpret and solve problems.
Students will develop skills in reading closely and analytically, gain knowledge in academic and
domain based vocabulary, produce effective and well-grounded writing, acquire self-confidence in
public speaking, and engage in research/inquiry to investigate topics. From August 2014 to August 2015 (1 year 1 month) Swim Coach (Age Group I, Age Group II, and Senior II Coach) @ Connecticut Aquatic Club is a year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to the national competitor.
All of our coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.

The CRFS is a coordinated sampling survey designed to gather catch and effort data from anglers in all modes of marine recreational finfish fishing. This program incorporates and updates the comprehensive sampling methodologies of the former Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistics Survey (MRFSS) and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW) Ocean Salmon Project.
The primary goal of the CRFS is to produce, in a timely manner, marine recreational fishery-based data needed to sustainably manage California's marine recreational fishery resources.

Native Marine Algae" (Dr. Celia Smith)
Working under Dr. Celia Smith of the Botany Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Myself and two other undergraduate students conducted and interpreting multiple experiments with hopes to learn more about invasive algae species and help rebuild coral reef communities surrounding the Hawaiian Islands. We were responsible for the harvesting of many different algae species needed for experiments as well as the identification of many different types of algae species. Our research team worked alongside other researchers as well as the Waikiki Aquarium to help ensure results were as accurate and error free as possible. Our group’s research was presented at the 2013 Testers Symposium at University of Hawaii at Manoa.

As a coach I educated swimmers on proper swimming technique, how to be hydrodynamic as possible in the water as well as built their athletic endurance. I assisted them in both the pool and in the ocean, ensuring they were prepared for there open water races.

I instructed beginning-competitive swimmers on stroke technique and the importance of being hydrodynamic in the water. At Swim Hawaii each swimmer was taught advanced stroke technique and developed swimming endurance . All swimmers are taught drills that help promote correct stroke mechanics of the Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Butterfly. They are introduced to proper turning techniques, including “flip turns.” All swimmers are taught how to be efficient in the water, which in turn allows each swimmer to swim longer distances without getting as fatigued.
