I am the Americas Vice Chair of Ernst & Young LLP’s (EY) Advisory Services practice. I have extensive experience working with Fortune 500 companies in the consumer products, utilities and high tech industries, as well as experience working with key public sector organizations. In 2011, I was recognized by Consulting Magazine as one of its Top 25 consultants honored in the category of Excellence in Leadership.
Prior to joining EY, I was President of Gartner, Inc.’s (Gartner) global consulting business, which was focused on transformation at the intersection of business and technology. Under my leadership, Gartner’s consulting business realized double-digit revenue and profitability growth.
I also served as the Chief Executive Officer of CGE&Y’s Government Solutions Division, and spent 10 years with EY serving on its North American Executive Committee, providing leadership to fast-growing, high-performing businesses within EY’s North American portfolio.

Gartner serves more than 10,000 clients, including chief information officers and other senior IT executives in corporations and government agencies, as well as technology companies and the investment community. Gartner Consulting, provides customized solutions that assist executives in applying Gartner's knowledge and capabilities to their specific challenges, with a particular emphasis on benchmark-enabled consulting services such as business strategy, IT management and strategic sourcing. As President of Gartner’s Global Consulting business unit, some of my key accomplishments were:

From April 2004 to April 2008 (4 years 1 month) National Director, Leadership & People Transformation @ While serving as CEO of Government Solutions, I was selected to give leadership to CGE&Y’s global transformation effort. I drove the development of a leadership & people transformation agenda focused on improvements in the areas of leadership development and personal development. Under my leadership, CGE&Y:
1. Implemented a Leadership Now Initiative, a program focused on developing professionals in the Top 10% at CGE&Y.
2. Implemented a Leadership Imperative Initiative; a program focused on developing leadership at all levels of CGE&Y.
3. Implemented multiple career paths with associated development plans by role, level, and service discipline to give CGE&Y professionals the ability to adapt more rapidly to shifts in market demand. From July 2002 to March 2004 (1 year 9 months) Chief Executive Officer, Government Solutions @ The U.S. Public Sector is a $100+ billion market and is the fastest growing vertical in the professional services industry. As a member of the CGE&Y North America Executive Committee, I launched CGE&Y’s Government Solutions Division. As CEO, I secured mission critical contracts with key federal agencies such as Department of Homeland Security, Centers for Disease Control, and Department of Defense. I created an LLC, recruited a strong leadership team, and gave leadership to an acquisition evaluation process. I conducted road shows involving customers, analysts, press, and strategic partners and secured “icon” board members to include a former Under Secretary of Defense and a highly regarded defense strategist with the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security. From January 2002 to March 2004 (2 years 3 months) Managing Director, Americas Sectors @ As a member of CGE&Y’s North America Executive Committee and as Managing Director of CGE&Y’s Americas Sectors, I gave leadership to a practice portfolio consisting of $1.1 billion in revenues and 3,500 consulting professionals. The verticals I was responsible for included Health Care, Middle Market, Canada, Mexico, and Professional Services. Under my leadership, CGE&Y’s Americas Sectors was the highest performing business unit within CGE&Y North America with 2001 performance at 104% of sales plan, 100% of revenue plan, and 103% of profit plan. This performance was achieved by:
1. Driving a mix shift towards a higher percentage of sourcing contracts
2. Focusing aggressive attention on performance-based deals
3. Implementing “real-time” management processes From January 2001 to January 2002 (1 year 1 month) Managing Director, Middle Market Consulting Services @ At the conclusion of 1996, Ernst & Young’s (E&Y) Consulting Services practice had seized significant market share in the major account market. Looking for sources of future growth and recognizing that the technology revolution was creating a “new breed” of middle market companies, the Chairman of E&Y’s Consulting Services Practice elected to start a new division focused on the middle market. As a member of E&Y’s North America Executive Committee, I was selected to give leadership to the launch of E&Y’s Middle Market Consulting Services practice. From 1997 to 2000, E&Y’s Middle Market practice grew to become a $385 million consulting services entity with over 1,200 dedicated consultants. E&Y’s Middle Market practice was a significant growth engine for the North American Region having the highest growth and profit performance of any business unit in 1998 and representing more than 30% of the overall growth of E&Y’s Consulting Services business in 1999. These achievements were accomplished by a focus on:
1. High Growth, “Future Fortune 500” companies
2. “Quick Start” infrastructure to support rapid market growth
3. Innovative methods to increase speed to market From January 1997 to January 2001 (4 years 1 month) Southeast Area Director, Performance Improvement Services @ In May of 1995, I was selected by the partners of E&Y to build E&Y’s Performance Improvement practice in the East. As Area Director, I grew E&Y’s Performance Improvement practice, with offices in Atlanta, Charlotte and Washington, DC to a $48M operation with 185 professionals. Under my leadership, E&Y’s Performance Improvement practice achieved 109% of its sales plan and 110% of its profit plan. These achievements were accomplished by:
1. Customer Intimacy – focus on major accounts
2. Comprehensive Capability - mix shift towards larger programs
3. “World Class” account management From May 1995 to January 1997 (1 year 9 months) Partner, Consulting Services @ As a Partner in E&Y’s Consulting Services practice, I served as a major account partner. During my tenure as a major account partner, I sold the 2nd largest engagement in E&Y’s South Region. I served the 3rd largest account in Atlanta where I established executive level relationships and provided financial management, process improvement, and systems integration consulting services. From October 1993 to May 1995 (1 year 8 months) Senior Manager, Consulting Services @ I was hired by the Partners of E&Y to give leadership to the building of a Financial Management practice. I helped develop, market, and deliver consulting services focused on business intelligence, performance management, and financial systems. From January 1991 to October 1993 (2 years 10 months) Manager, Corporate Planning @ I reported to the CEO of Hayes Microcomputer Products, and gave leadership to the corporate and financial planning functions. While at Hayes, I:
1. Developed multidimensional planning models resulting in enhanced financial reporting and decision-making capabilities
2. Supported the acquisition of a low-end modem manufacturer to expand Hayes’s market segmentation and the acquisition of a fax product to expand Hayes’s product line
3. Provided decision-oriented analysis for the purpose of planning and executing cost reduction programs, including process streamlining, organization restructuring, and facility consolidation From June 1985 to January 1991 (5 years 8 months) Certified Public Accountant @ As a CPA, I planned and administered audits, acquisition reviews and SEC registrations. I was promoted to Senior Accountant with resultant in-charge responsibilities 18 months ahead of the standard career path.
